The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs this summer.<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming events include: Tree Cookies, Critter Creations, Make Your Own Hummingbird Feeder, and so much more!<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nPrograms are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">by the deadline listed<\/span>. Programs with no reservations by the deadline are canceled.<\/p>\n<p>All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.<\/p>\n<p>Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).<\/p>\n<p>The age limits are definite \u2013 please do not sign up a child who is too young or too old for the program.<\/p>\n<p>Call 931-648-5526 for reservations.<\/p>\n<h3>Sunday, August 15th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>TREE COOKIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 9:00am \u2013 10:00am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 3-12<\/p>\n<p>Come out and learn how we can age trees, tell weather conditions and natural disasters by the rings they leave.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Andy Riggs, Seasonal Interpretive Ranger<br \/>\n<strong>Reservations by:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 13th.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>CRITTER CREATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 2:30pm &#8211; 4:00pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 4-10<\/p>\n<p>Learn how to identify what animal is what by all that they leave behind.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations by:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 13th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Andy Riggs, Seasonal Interpretive Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Thursday, August 19th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>BYGONE YEARS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 10:00am &#8211; 11:30am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 8-Adult<\/p>\n<p>Take a tour of the park and learn about why people have such fond memories of the Dunbar Cave of times past.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations by:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 17th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Saturday, August 21st<\/h3>\n<p><strong>MAKE YOUR OWN HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 10:00am &#8211; 12:00am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> All Ages<\/p>\n<p>Hummingbirds are amazing birds. Bring a plastic bottle with you to this creative workshop!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations by:<\/strong> 4:30pm August 19th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Michael Fulbright, Seasonal Interpretive Ranger<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>TURTLE TAPPING<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 2:00pm &#8211; 3:00pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> All Ages<\/p>\n<p>Do you have the patience of a turtle? Some turtles will tap the ground with their toes for 30 minutes to get the worms to come to the surface.
