Thompson, assistant professor of history, Barry Kitterman, languages and literature professor, and Kell Black, professor of art, will all be signing and discussing their books at the store between 11:00am and 7:00pm.<!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>Dr. Antonio S. Thompson<\/h3>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/german-jackboots.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-41952\" title=\"German Jackboots on Kentucky Bluegrass: Housing German Prisoners of War in Kentucky\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/german-jackboots-128x200.jpg\" alt=\"German Jackboots on Kentucky Bluegrass: Housing German Prisoners of War in Kentucky\" width=\"128\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Thompson published his first book, \u201cGerman Jackboots on Kentucky Bluegrass: Housing German Prisoners of War in Kentucky,\u201d in September 2008.<\/p>\n<p>It is the first book-length work that details the housing, working and entertaining of more than 10,000 German prisoners in Kentucky during World War II.<\/p>\n<h3>Barry Kitterman<\/h3>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/the-baker-boys.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-41955\" title=\"The Baker\u2019s Boy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/the-baker-boys-132x200.jpg\" alt=\"The Baker\u2019s Boy\" width=\"132\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Kitterman\u2019s novel, \u201cThe Baker\u2019s Boy,\u201d won the Maria Thomas Fiction Award last year. The award is presented annually by the website peacecorpswriters.org.<\/p>\n<p>The novel tells two intertwined stories of Tanner Johnson. The first deals with him as a middle-aged man, so haunted by his past that he flees from his pregnant wife.<\/p>\n<p>That past informs the second story in the book, which focuses on Johnson\u2019s traumatic struggles and disillusionment 25 years earlier while serving with the Peace Corps in Belize.<\/p>\n<h3>Kell Black<\/h3>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/paper-chess.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-41957\" title=\"Paper Chess\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/paper-chess-192x200.jpg\" alt=\"Paper Chess\" width=\"192\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Black, an eminent paper engineer, released his book \u201cPaper Chess\u201d in 2009. The book features instructions and enough \u201cpunch-out\u201d chess pieces designed by Black to make two complete paper chess sets.<\/p>\n<p>The book opens with a history of the game of chess, but the majority of \u201cPaper Chess\u201d consists of instructions and the unassembled pieces.<\/p>\n<p>The book\u2019s back cover provides a chess board that all the pieces were designed to fit.<\/p>\n<p>The Borders Bookstore is located at 2801 Wilma Rudolph Blvd., inside the Governor\u2019s Square Mall.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three Austin Peay State University professors who are also published authors will be at the Borders Bookstore in Clarksville Saturday to sign copies of their books.
