To see the full list, visit the <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apsu.edu\/student-life\/lcrc\/latinxheritagemonth\/index.php\" >Latinx Heritage Month webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/peaylink.campuslabs.com\/engage\/event\/7137739\" >kick-off celebration<\/a>, which is open to APSU students and employees, is co-sponsored by Student Life and Engagement.<\/p>\n<h3>Friday Football Frenzy Pep Rally Planned<\/h3>\n<p>On Friday, September 17th, one of the biggest events of the semester, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/peaylink.campuslabs.com\/engage\/event\/7337211\" >the Friday Football Frenzy pep rally<\/a> will include cheerleaders, the dance team, the marching band, coaches, and Governors players.<\/p>\n<p>The gates open at Fortera Stadium at 6:00pm, and the pep rally is from 6:30pm-7:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>[470center]<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is invited to this free event to cheer on the Govs before they host Morehead State in the home opener on Saturday, September 18th at 2:00pm.<\/p>\n<h3>Expert on Tennessee Suffragists to speak at APSU Constitution Day<\/h3>\n<p>On Friday, September 17th, at 2:00pm, Dr. Carole Bucy, an expert on Tennessee\u2019s role in passing the 19th amendment, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apsu.edu\/news\/august-2021-constitution-day.php\" >will visit Austin Peay State University to deliver a lecture as part of the campus\u2019 Constitution Day celebration<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>[320left]Constitution Day commemorates the day \u2013 September 17th, 1787 \u2013 the country\u2019s Founding Fathers adopted the U.S. Constitution. Bucy\u2019s talk celebrating another important U.S. milestone \u2013 women receiving the right to vote \u2013 will take place in room 307 of the Morgan University Center.<\/p>\n<p>Austin Peay State University\u2019s Constitution Day Lecture, which is free and open to the public, is sponsored by the APSU College of Arts and Letters, the APSU Department of History and Philosophy, and the APSU Department of Political Science and Public Management.<\/p>\n<h3>Zone 3 Press\u2019s First Book Award Poetry Reading coming Thursday<\/h3>\n<p>Poets Paige Lewis, Komal Mathew, and Emily Spencer will present a virtual reading of their poetry on September 16th for Zone 3 Press\u2019s First Book Award Poetry Reading at Austin Peay State University.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apsu.edu\/news\/september-2021-zone-3-0902.php\" >The reading is a celebration of Mathew and Spencer<\/a>, co-winners of the 2020 First Book Award in Poetry. Lewis was the judge who picked them as the winners.<\/p>\n<p>The reading also celebrates Mathew and Spencer\u2019s new books. Zone 3 Press will publish Mathew\u2019s \u201cFor Daughters Who Walk Out Like Sons\u201d and Spencer\u2019s \u201cEast Walnut Hills\u201d this month.<\/p>\n<p>[470center]<\/p>\n<p>The poetry reading will be at 7:00pm on September 16th <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/apsu.zoom.us\/webinar\/register\/WN_bhN3Wf0jSF-uPfuIPngeWQ\" >via Zoom at this link<\/a>. The event is sponsored by the APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts and is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<h3>APSU Board of Trustees to host fall meetings on September 17th<\/h3>\n<p>On September 17th, the Austin Peay State University Board of Trustees will host its fall meetings \u2013 committee meetings and the full board meeting \u2013 throughout the day on campus.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The day will begin with the Board\u2019s Academic Affairs Committee meeting at 9:00am, followed by the Student Affairs Committee, the Business and Finance Committee, the Executive Committee, and the Audit Committee meetings consecutively thereafter. The Board&#8217;s Audit Committee will end with a closed executive session to discuss pending litigation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The full Board will meet at 1:00pm that Friday afternoon.
