(APSU)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>But you also can see the exhibit from the safety of your home in a newly launched&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/my.matterport.com\/show\/?m=koP69xXP9E4\" >360-degree virtual walk-through<\/a>&nbsp;that is integrated with an \u201cartist-led\u201d gallery tour.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/my.matterport.com\/show\/?m=koP69xXP9E4\" >Click here<\/a>&nbsp;to see the virtual walk-through.<\/p>\n<p>The walk-through includes a transcript of Precourt&#8217;s audio and a downloadable and printable gallery guide with an exhibition essay by Veronica Kavass.<\/p>\n<p>Precourt also will have an artist lecture via Zoom on February 3rd at 6:00pm. Hours for The New Gallery are 10:00am-3:00pm. Tuesday-Thursday closed on weekends and holidays, and follows the university\u2019s academic calendar. To see upcoming events,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apsu.edu\/art-design\/thenewgallery\/upcoming_exhibitions.php\" >click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To read more about The Katrina Chronicles,&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apsu.edu\/news\/january-2021-precourt.php\" >click here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[470center]<\/p>\n<h3>While you\u2019re on campus, take a stroll and notice the trees<\/h3>\n<p>Austin Peay State University\u2019s wooded campus is home to all of the state\u2019s popular, native trees and more \u2013 about 130 different species, including all 22 native oak species \u2013 prompting the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council to certify Austin Peay State University as an official arboretum last fall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve actually had an arboretum on campus for the last few years, but this adds a little more validation,\u201d Wes Powell, APSU assistant director of landscape and grounds, said. \u201cThis certification puts us in a state-wide network where people can go to the website and find an arboretum and a plant map. We have all the trees identified and mapped on our website.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Powell originally established the Austin Peay Arboretum in 2015, using a plant inventory created by Dr. Dwayne Estes, APSU botany professor, and Dr. Chris Gentry, APSU geosciences professor.<\/p>\n<p>Since 2017, the University\u2019s grounds and horticulture crews have corrected any maintenance needs on existing trees while also adding 45 new species to campus.<\/p>\n<p>For information on Austin Peay State University\u2019s Arboretum, visit <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.apsu.edu\/sustainability\/Arboretum.php\" >https:\/\/www.apsu.edu\/sustainability\/Arboretum.php<\/a>.
