\"APSUAustin Peay State University student-athletes posted a 2.915 grade-point average \u2013 their fifth consecutive semester with a GPA of 2.90 or better \u2013 during the recently completed Spring 2010 semester, director of athletics Dave Loos announced, Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The department saw 159 student-athletes named to the Spring 2010 Athletics Director\u2019s Honor Roll, representing 54.6 percent of the department\u2019s 291 student-athletes. Included in that tally are 29 student-athletes who were named to the President\u2019s List \u2013 recording a perfect 4.0 GPA \u2013 and a record 83 student-athletes who were named to APSU\u2019s Dean\u2019s List, earning a 3.5 or better GPA.<\/p>\n

“Our student-athletes continue to set one of the highest academics standards at our level,” said Loos. “Each year we challenge our student-athletes on the playing fields and in the classroom. Our teams and student-athletes continue to succeed athletically and academically.\u201dTen of the department\u2019s 16 teams posted a 3.0 GPA for the semester, led by the women\u2019s golf team, which posted a 3.541 GPA, with all 10 of the team\u2019s student-athletes recognized on the AD\u2019s honor roll, including five members named to the Dean\u2019s List and three to the President\u2019s List.<\/p>\n

The other teams posting 3.0 or better GPAs were men\u2019s tennis (3.541), women\u2019s soccer (3.412), softball (3.347), women\u2019s cross country (3.333), women\u2019s basketball (3.330), men\u2019s cross country (3.291), women\u2019s volleyball (3.147), women\u2019s track and field (3.061) and the cheerleading team (3.042)<\/p>\n

Established in 1990-91, the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll recognizes the outstanding academic accomplishments of Austin Peay State University student-athletes. To earn recognition student-athletes must achieve at least a 3.0 grade-point average for a semester.<\/p>\n
