(APSU)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>In response to this need, the Govs Give Back Fund was created.<\/p>\n<p>This initiative is intended to provide urgent financial assistance for students, faculty and staff who have suffered severe economic, medical or similar hardships during COVID-19 Coronavirus and in other times of crisis.<\/p>\n<p>To date, more than 100 Austin Peay State University alumni and friends have contributed nearly $70,000 to the initiative. That money has covered expenses related to the pandemic, including rent, electric bills, childcare, healthcare and access to technology.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are grateful to our community for their support during a time that has been challenging for us and for them as well,\u201d Assistant Vice President for University Advancement Kris Phillips said. \u201cTheir selfless giving spirit has helped the members of our Gov family who need it most.
