(APSU)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.projectyesu.org\/\" >Project Yesu<\/a> has grown in the years since \u2013 adding child sponsorship and feeding programs with plans to build a school \u2013 but the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has had an impact on Fundora and her cause.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an extremely tough time for Project Yesu as a whole right now,\u201d Fundora said. \u201cI was supposed to be in Uganda in just a few weeks, but obviously plans have been changed in order to keep everyone safe.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe people in our programs are struggling, just like everyone is right now, but vastly different struggles than ours,\u201d she added. \u201cThey are already struggling with the funds for food and other basic needs on a daily basis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The schools have closed, and students are home without running water or proper sanitation, Fundora said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTheir food needs have multiplied,\u201d she said. \u201cOur staff is not allowed to distribute food.\u201d<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018Being the change right now may seem difficult\u2019<\/h3>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"#GovLife | Mallory Fundora\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5le2VmmPt8w?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Project Yesu recently set up 15 handwashing stations around Musima in an effort to combat the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are a community that has always gone through life arm and arm, now they\u2019re being asked to stay apart,\u201d Fundora said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The government has locked down the country, which means residents have little access to private or public transportation.<\/p>\n<p>[320left]Project Yesu sponsors about 250 children and feeds more than 450 every weekday.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBeing the change right now may seem difficult,\u201d Fundora said. \u201cIt\u2019s easier to focus on your current problems rather than what is happening to the people around us.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m always fighting to be the change in Uganda, but it can be in your own community as well,\u201d Fundora said. \u201cIt may take some creativity but changing the world can happen from your own home.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>\u2018It\u2019s important that we all hang in there\u2019&nbsp;<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_487126\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Call-to-\u2018Be-the-Change\u2019-endures-for-APSU-student-Mallory-Fundora-and-her-charity-despite-Coronavirus.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-487126\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-487126\" title=\"Austin Peay State University sophomore Mallory Fundora. (APSU)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>While running Project Yesu, Fundora is a full-time student at Austin Peay State University.
