{"id":2851,"date":"2010-06-17T10:00:01","date_gmt":"2010-06-17T15:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=2851"},"modified":"2010-06-17T00:20:12","modified_gmt":"2010-06-17T05:20:12","slug":"apsu-vol-state-to-sign-new-dual-admissions-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2010\/06\/17\/apsu-vol-state-to-sign-new-dual-admissions-agreement\/","title":{"rendered":"APSU, Vol State to sign new dual admissions agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-32994\" title=\"apsulogo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/apsulogo-200x50.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"50\" \/>Students at Volunteer State Community College who wish to enroll at Austin Peay State University after earning their associate degree will be able to transfer with ease, in large part due to a new dual admissions agreement between the two postsecondary institutions.<\/p>\n<p>Leaders from both APSU and Vol State will sign the dual admissions agreement, known as the Austin Peay Guarantee, during a press conference at 10:00am, Thursday, June 24th in the president\u2019s conference room at Vol State\u2019s campus in Gallatin. The agreement signing is open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the years, Vol State has sent us great students, and I\u2019m happy to see our two institutions take this new step, which will pave the way for other students in the future,\u201d APSU President Tim Hall said.<\/p>\n<p>Vol State President Dr. Warren Nichols also expressed excitement in the new agreement.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis agreement provides a clear path for student success, beginning here at Vol State and continuing with Austin Peay,\u201d he said. \u201cMaking the college transfer process easier is important for our students and critical for the future of higher education in Tennessee.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The dual admissions agreement offers Vol State students the advantage of a structured approach for completion of the associate degree followed by enrollment to pursue the baccalaureate degree.<\/p>\n<p>A dually admitted student first enrolls at Vol State. Upon completion of the two-year degree, the student then will enroll at APSU to pursue a bachelor\u2019s degree.
