(APSU)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of hosting our usual artist lecture on creative practice, I will be in conversation with Carla regarding her body of work on display, titled&nbsp;<em>The White Problem<\/em>,\u201d Dickins said. \u201cThis will be a one-on-one conversation that is&nbsp;open to the public and open to public discussion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis work is powerful, and I\u2019m glad that we were able to partner with COOP Gallery in Nashville to be able to&nbsp;extend the conversation. After leaving APSU,&nbsp;<em>The White Problem<\/em>&nbsp;will be on display at the COOP Gallery during the month of February. COOP is Nashville\u2019s longest established, artist-run project space and curatorial collective that was established in 2010.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit is open throughout the week in the Barbara Beach Gallery on the second floor of the Art + Design building. All events are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>The Barbara Beach Gallery is open 9:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Friday. All classes offered through CSA are affordable and open to the public. While fees vary, enrollment at APSU is not required to take part in any CSA course, and most classes do not require any prior experience.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>CSA courses are skill-based, allowing students to focus on personal goals. (APSU)\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nominations are being sought for the 2020 Ovation Awards, presented by the Advisory Board of the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts (CECA, or \u201cseek-ah\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>The Ovation Awards will take place at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 29th, 2020 in the George and Sharon Mabry Concert Hall. For the third year in a row, the awards will be presented in a showcase-style event featuring a variety of performances from both Austin Peay and community arts groups.<\/p>\n<p>[320right]The Ovation Awards recognize an individual or group\u2019s dedication to building and sustaining arts and culture in Montgomery County through active participation in the arts and\/or support of the arts. The awards have been presented since 1996.<\/p>\n<p>The nominees must have made significant contributions to the artistic and cultural life of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. Anyone can submit nominations. Nominations will be accepted through Saturday, February 1st, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The award categories in which nominations are sought are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Individual Artist:&nbsp;<\/strong>A living Tennessee artist, active in the field of&nbsp;literature, visual arts, performing arts, music, folk arts, architecture or design, who lives or lived in Montgomery County.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Community:&nbsp;<\/strong>A Clarksville-Montgomery County community organization or institution with an outstanding arts-based community program or project. Schools and the school district are not eligible in this category.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Business:&nbsp;<\/strong>A business or corporation that has made a significant contribution to support arts and culture in Montgomery County. Government agencies are not eligible<\/li>\n<li><strong>Young Artist:&nbsp;<\/strong>A current high school student in Clarksville-Montgomery County who has shown exceptional dedication, skill and talent in visual art, dance performance, theatre performance, instrumental music, vocal performance or creative writing. Six winners will be selected, not specific to disciplines. Winners will receive a $75 cash prize and will be strongly considered when applying for one of two annual $1,000 endowed arts scholarships at APSU, established by the CECA Advisory Board.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Ovation Awards also include The&nbsp;George Mabry Award. Nominees for this honor come from the CECA Advisory Board. Moon will give a public lecture at 6:00pm on February 5th in the building\u2019s Heydel Hall. There will be a reception from noon-1:00pm the following day, February 6th, and a gallery talk with Moon beginning at 12:30pm.
