Cleven Award for Best Chapter of the Year. (APSU)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is our most notable distinction considering the tremendous time and effort required to maintain a chapter of this caliber so consistently,\u201d Wendy Tunstall, Phi Alpha Theta National Committee\u2019s interim executive director, wrote in a letter to the chapter\u2019s adviser, Dr. Somaditya Banerjee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou and your students have shown admirable dedication to the organization and truly exemplify the mission statement of Phi Alpha Theta,\u201d Tunstall stated.<\/p>\n<p>The award is given annually to the national organization\u2019s best chapters in different-sized divisions. The APSU chapter competes with other universities that have 10,001-15,000 students.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_470500\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Austin-Peay-State-University\u2019s-History-Honor-Club-wins-11th-straight-Best-Chapter-Award-2.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-470500\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-470500\" title=\"Phi Alpha Theta members. (APSU)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cReceiving the award represents the high standard we have set toward academics, campus involvement and networking amongst individuals interested in history,\u201d Theta Delta President Nicholas Herrud said. \u201cThis award is the goal of our chapter each academic year and is a way of showing why we are called an honor society.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Herrud, who is expected to graduate next spring, said he expects the club to continue to win awards and thrive after he leaves.<\/p>\n<p>[320left]\u201cIt is not often that teachers are fortunate to have students with the rare mixture of professional and personal skills that I have found in the students of Austin Peay,\u201d Banerjee, an assistant professor in the Department of History &amp; Philosophy, said. \u201cI hope we can further build on this success and inspire people on the importance of studying humanities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Banerjee also thanked Dr. Minoa Uffelman \u201cfor much help mentoring and guidance\u201d and department chair Dr. Cameron Sutt.<\/p>\n<p>Best chapter awards go to clubs that excel in promoting the mission of the honor society. Chapters must present their activities, including fundraising events and field trips. Phi Alpha Theta has more than 970 chapters.<\/p>\n<p>The Nels A.
