The event, which is free and open to the public, will be at 2:00pm in the Trahern Theatre.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_467001\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Freddie-Ashley.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-467001\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-467001\" title=\"Freddie Ashley\" src=\"https:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Freddie-Ashley-480x322.jpg\" alt=\"Freddie Ashley\" width=\"480\" height=\"322\"\/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-467001\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Freddie Ashley<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Ashley was appointed artistic director of Actor\u2019s Express in Atlanta in July 2007. At Actors Express he has directed such hits as \u201c<em>Rent,\u201d \u201cThe Rocky Horror Show<\/em><em>,\u201d \u201c<\/em><em>End of the Rainbow,\u201d \u201cSix Degrees of Separation,\u201d \u201cKiss of the Spider Woman\u201d and \u201cGrey Gardens<\/em><em>.\u201d <\/em>He also directed \u201cCabaret\u201d for the Atlanta Lyric Theatre, \u201cThe Last Schwartz\u201d for the Jewish Theatre of the South and \u201cCamelot\u201d for the Aurora Theatre.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining Actors Express, Ashley served as literary manager of the Alliance Theatre, where he was dramaturg for 30 productions. Play development activities include work with Jewish Theatre of the South, the Kennedy Center, the New Group and Page 73 Productions.<\/p>\n<p>He has received the Elliot Hayes Award for Dramaturgy from the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas and in 2007 was awarded an Arts Encouragement Award from the Charles Loridans Foundation. He serves on the faculty of Kennesaw State University and holds degrees from the University of Southern Mississippi and the former Shorter College.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley is coming to APSU to direct the world premiere of world-renowned playwright John Patrick Shanley\u2019s new collection of one-act plays, \u201cFive Savory Dishes.\u201d This collection of plays is being produced by the APSU Department of Theatre and Dance as part of the 2019-2020 Acuff season, which also features a Drama Desk-nominated director\/choreographer, a Jeff-nominated actor and the top flying effects company in the U.S. for the spring musical \u201cAddams Family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFive Savory Dishes\u201d runs from November 21st-24th.
