Millard House Tapped by State Commissioner for National Fellowship.<\/p><\/div>\n

House was selected as the Director-At-Large for the Tennessee Organization of School Superintendents (TOSS); and, Tennessee Education Commissioner Dr. Penny Schwinn appointed House to serve as one of 12 Fellows to participate in the Coherence Lab Fellowship, a group that helps leaders from the state, district and school level create a more coherent and equitable education system.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese opportunities are reflective of the student-focused and innovative work happening in CMCSS by administrators and teachers,\u201d said House. \u201cI am honored by the trust of Tennessee\u2019s school directors and grateful for the opportunity our Education Commissioner is providing to enhance our strategic approach for student success.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Coherence Lab Fellowship is a part of the Aspen Institute Education and Society Program, Council of Chief State School Officers and Education First. Tennessee is one of four states selected as part of the second group to participate in the 18-month process, which is designed to remove barriers to collaboration, test and pilot new structures for educator engagement in decision-making, and gain knowledge and strategies to engage stakeholders. The Fellowship is funded with support from the Carnegie Corporation of New York.<\/p>\n

\u201cClarksville-Montgomery County has led the way when it comes to the establishment of a Grow-Your-Own model designed to enhance teacher recruitment, retention and leadership,\u201d according to Commissioner Schwinn. \u201cDirector House\u2019s innovative approach is something the state is looking closely at, which is why I\u2019m thrilled he\u2019s agreed to contribute to this conversation moving forward.\u201d<\/p>\n
