\"TennesseeClarksville, TN<\/strong> – Dunbar Cave State Park<\/a> has been a State Park since 1973. The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.<\/p>\n

Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. There are programs for children and adults.<\/p>\n

The upcoming events are: Dunbar Cave – 1865!, Prairie Volunteer Workday.<\/p>\n

Prairie Volunteer Workday<\/strong><\/p>\n

Time:<\/strong> 8:00am – 1:00pm<\/p>\n

Celebrate National Public Lands Day and Tennessee Serves by helping Dunbar Cave and the Southeastern Grasslands Initiative continue their work on the parks’ tall grass prairie restoration. We will be working on removing invasive plant species in the wooded areas. Wear work gloves and bring water to stay hydrated. Some tools will be provided but you can also bring your own. Please register so we know how many volunteers are attending.<\/p>\n

Throughout the 1800s, Dunbar Cave saw many people explore its depths by candle light and dance at it’s mouth. Join us as we recreate one of those nights of dancing and exploring from 1865! Living Historians will be present as will period correct dance instruction & musicians, if you care to participate in a dance or two. Enjoy some refreshments (included in ticket cost), and take in a cave tour led by candle light!<\/p>\n

Please wear closed toed shoes. You will be required to sign a liability waiver prior to entering the cave.
\nTours leave every 30 minutes. Arrive early and stay after to participate in dancing and refreshments! Children under 5 can attend the dance but cannot go on the cave tour.<\/p>\n

Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information<\/h3>\n

Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed. Programs with no reservations by the deadline will be canceled.<\/p>\n

All programs begin at the Visitor Center unless another site is listed.<\/p>\n

Children must be accompanied by an adult (one adult for each three children).<\/p>\n

Age limits are definite \u2013 please do not sign up a child who is younger or older than the age limits given.<\/p>\n
