(APSU)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The students rotated through four classrooms, each exploring varying themes of science.<\/p>\n<p>In one classroom, Bryan Gaither and several APSU physics students demonstrated the wonders of science.<\/p>\n<p>One physics student, Jo Lynn Tyner, demonstrated how magnetic fields affect metals.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not magic, it\u2019s science,\u201d Tyner said.<\/p>\n<h3>Learning the effects of force<\/h3>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sango Elementary students become scientists of the day at Austin Peay\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AEGKZZhjuug?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Gaither capped off the battery of physics demonstrations by heating a hydrogen-filled balloon until it exploded.<\/p>\n<p>In another classroom, Dr. Lisa Sullivan, chair of the chemistry department at Austin Peay State University, brewed slime with the scientists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt looks like a jewel!\u201d one of the young scientists said.<\/p>\n<p>In her classroom, Meisch demonstrated friction and force and ushered the scientists through the scientific method.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[320center]<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"headline--small\">Learning the effects of magnetism<\/h3>\n<div align=\"center\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Sango Elementary students become scientists of the day at Austin Peay\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/au-GukUGPO4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Does a wood block move farther when struck by a golf ball rolled from various heights? The young scientists formed groups, each member filling a role in the experiment.<\/p>\n<p>While Meisch guided the students, they arrived at their conclusions through their own observations.<\/p>\n<p>The students also toured the galaxy with Dr. Spencer Buckner, a professor in the Department of Physics, Engineering and Astronomy.<\/p>\n<p>[320left]The team of young scientists ended their field trip by making ice cream with Sullivan.
