\"ClarksvilleClarksville, TN<\/strong> – Hundreds of runners were presented with rare perfect conditions for running this past Saturday, just in time for Clarksville’s annual Queen City Road Race, a 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run that traverses the streets of Downtown Clarksville.<\/p>\n

Hundreds came out to Austin Peay State University for the annual Queen City Road Race, Saturday, April 27th, 2019.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cThis year’s turnout was huge,\u201d Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Rob Rayburn said. \u201cThe weather was perfect. We could not have asked for a better race day. Everyone seemed really happy. We had more than 700 people at this year’s race. And, we are very pleased with those numbers because we were competing with the Music City Marathon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Queen City Road Race is usually held a week after Nashville’s famous marathon, but a larger than normal APSU graduating class has forced administrators to add a third ceremony to this year’s commencement schedule, which will take place Saturday, May 4th, 2019.<\/p>\n

Clarksville Parks and Recreation’s Jennifer LeTourneau echoed Rayburn’s comments.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were definitely blessed with great weather,\u201d LeTourneau said. \u201cThis year, we are seeing a lot of folks we haven’t seen in the past. We have a big group from Mann, Smith & Cummings Insurance, and we still have several groups of students representing our local schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe change of date created some challenges, but it has really worked out for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Queen City Road Race’s course was similar to that of previous years. Runners say it is flat and fast. Those characteristics, coupled with moderate temperatures and low humidity, led to some strong finish times.<\/p>\n

Austin Peay State University (APSU) Track Team members Nash Young and Joseph Redman finished 1st and 2nd at Saturday’s race. Young crossed the line at 16m57s, Redman finished close behind at 17m01s. Clarksville’s A.J. Haynes rounded out the Men’s top 3 with a time of 17m53s.<\/p>\n

Queen City Road Race 2019’s top female finishers include 1st Place \u2013 Lisa Carlock – 20m00s, 2nd Place \u2013 Jill Standley \u2013 20m58s, and 3rd Place Kerby – Harpst \u2013 21m37s.<\/p>\n
