Clarksville, TN<\/strong> – Critically acclaimed poet Marcus Wicker will visit Austin Peay State University as part of the Zone 3 Reading Series, reading from his works at 8:00pm February 7th.<\/p>\nWicker has won several recognitions, including a Ruth Lilly Fellowship from the Poetry Foundation and a Pushcart Prize.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Poet Marcus Wicker will read from his works as part of the Zone 3 Reading Series at Austin Peay State University, February 7th.<\/p><\/div>\n

His first collection \u201cMaybe the Saddest Thing\u201d was a National Poetry Series winner and finalist for an NAACP Image Award.<\/p>\n
His second book, \u201cSilencer,\u201d also was an Image Award finalist and won the Society of Midland Authors Award and the Arnold Adoff Poetry Award for New Voices.<\/p>\n
Publisher\u2019s Weekly describes \u201cSilencer\u201d this way: \u201cThese fiercely lyrical narratives stand in the crosshairs of the political moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wicker teaches in the MFA program at the University of Memphis, and he is the poetry editor of Southern Indiana Review.<\/p>\n
Wicker\u2019s reading will be in Room 120 of the Art + Design Building on campus.<\/p>\n
All Zone 3 Reading Series events are free and open to the public. A book signing and reception will follow the reading.<\/p>\n
The Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts is co-hosting the event.<\/p>\n
