It’s free for them to participate, they just have to bring about 4,000 pieces of candy. And. Though that sounds like a lot, some booths were running out of candy about two hours in to the event.”

The City of Clarksville began Fright on Franklin as a safe trick-or-treating alternative for families. It proved to be a hit from the very beginning, and shows no sign of slowing down. Rayburn says it’s a great way for the city to give back to the community.

“We always hear great things from everyone involved,” Rayburn said. “Of course the kids love it, but everybody has fun, and when we have great weather like we did this year, that’s an added bonus.

“We had some pretty cool prizes for the winners of our costume contests this year. 1st place winners received $100.00 Visa gift cards provided by Altra Federal Credit Union. We also gave prizes to our 2nd and 3rd place winners in each age group.”

Other prizes were donated by Planet 3 Extreme Air Park, D&D Black Light Mini Golf, Chuck E. Cheese’s, and Horsefeathers Pottery Studio.
