Austin Peay State University (APSU)<\/h2>\n

\"AustinClarksville, TN<\/strong> – On Thursday, November 1st, 2018 Edward\u2019s Steakhouse in Downtown Clarksville will host Dr. Jeffrey Williams, Austin Peay State University (APSU)  assistant professor of voice, for \u201cLeonard Bernstein: A Cabaret Celebration\u201d from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.<\/p>\n

Williams, baritone, and his APSU voice students will showcase their talents in honor of the 100th birthday of the late American composer and conductor.<\/p>\n

They will perform many of Bernstein\u2019s most beloved tunes, from \u201cWest Side Story,\u201d \u201cOn the Town,\u201d \u201cWonderful Town,\u201d \u201cMASS,\u201d \u201cCandide\u201d and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so excited to get out into our downtown Clarksville community and do this performance with our students,\u201d Williams said. \u201cDoing a cabaret is a different animal. There is extensive interaction with the audience and it forces you to get out of the standard classical singer \u2018comfort zone\u2019 \u2013 the crook of the piano. It is a great setting for authentic storytelling as well as singing with amplification.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tickets for the event are $50.00 per person, and admission includes a full meal and the cabaret performance. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the APSU Vocal Alumni Scholarship, which is presented to one deserving vocal student each year.<\/p>\n

\u201cDiversifying venues, experiences, and techniques is such an important part of being a working singer,\u201d Williams said. \u201cI\u2019m so glad the students will have a chance to do a performance like this before they graduate. Hopefully it will empower them to generate occasions like this on their own in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

This event can be enjoyed in conjunction with the Downtown Clarksville Association\u2019s First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n
