{"id":25860,"date":"2018-05-23T16:00:04","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T21:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=25860"},"modified":"2018-05-23T15:42:57","modified_gmt":"2018-05-23T20:42:57","slug":"fort-campbell-high-school-holds-56th-commencement-at-apsus-dunn-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2018\/05\/23\/fort-campbell-high-school-holds-56th-commencement-at-apsus-dunn-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Fort Campbell High School holds 56th Commencement at APSU&#8217;s Dunn Center"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Fort Campbell High School 2018 Graduation<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-97767\" title=\"Fort Campbell High School\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/11\/Fort-Campbell-Highschool.gif\" alt=\"Fort Campbell High School\" width=\"127\" height=\"131\"\/><strong>Clarksville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; Fort Campbell High School held its Fifty-Sixth Annual Commencement Exercises Friday at Austin Peay State University&#8217;s Dunn Center.<\/p>\n<p>The FCHS Class of 2018 graduated a mere 95 students, but their achievements were impressive, as was evidenced by the fact that this class received a collective $7 million in scholarship offers from universities around the country.<\/p>\n<p>The ceremony began with a senior slide show, followed by a student processional to the traditional Pomp and Circumstance.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_423814\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/2018-Fort-Campbell-High-School-Graduation-9.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-423814\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-423814\" title=\"Fort Campbell High School recently held its 2018 Commencement Exercises at APSU's Dunn Center\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/2018-Fort-Campbell-High-School-Graduation-9-480x320.jpg\" alt=\"Fort Campbell High School recently held its 2018 Commencement Exercises at APSU's Dunn Center\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\"\/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-423814\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Fort Campbell High School recently held its 2018 Commencement Exercises at APSU&#8217;s Dunn Center<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Alora Davis sang an impressive rendition of The National Anthem, followed by Issac Benites&#8217;s heartfelt version of the school&#8217;s Alma Mater.<\/p>\n<p>Salutatorian Elizabeth Ryan, and Valedictorian Gavin Sylvia took their turns at the podium, each delivering speeches filled with humor, and words of inspiration for their fellow graduates.<\/p>\n<p>Senior English teacher\/senior class sponsor Sonya Forbes took a few minutes to talk about this year&#8217;s graduates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis class is near and dear to my heart because many of them I had&nbsp; in 6<sup>th<\/sup> and 8<sup>th<\/sup> grade and then I had the honor of working with them in their senior year,\u201d Forbes said. \u201cIt&#8217;s unusual for a military child to have the same teacher three times. Many of them PCS&#8217;d and came back, and I moved from middle school to high school.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe asked them this past week, how many different schools they have been in, and it ranged from 4 to 14. For one child to be in 14 different schools is hard to imagine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you think about these kids, they are 18 years old. This is the first generation of kids whose active duty parent(s) have been at war since their birth. These kids have lived with their parents having been deployed most of their lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s Commencement Speaker was former FCHS graduate and current CNN Reporter, Dianne Gallagher.
