\"FirstClarksville, TN<\/strong> – Downtown Clarksville’s First Thursday Art Walk for May saw perfect weather, new venues, and big crowds, as local artists showed off their latest creations.<\/p>\n

The recently-opened Downtown Commons joined in the First Thursday fun for the first time, featuring live music from It\u2019s Relative, the musical brother\/sister duo of Nashville-based musicians Jeremiah & Jordan Johnson.<\/p>\n

The Riverview Inn hosted local photographer, Lucas Ryan Chambers, an internationally published photographer and graphic designer based in Clarksville, TN.<\/p>\n

Several downtown establishments featured local artists for Clarksville’s May First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p><\/div>\n

And, the Framemaker proudly presented new work by Jim Diehr, with an opening reception that lasted from 5:00pm-8:00pm. Diehr’s work will be on display throughout the month of May. He is Professor Emeritus at Austin Peay State University, whose work has been exhibited regionally, nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n

Other downtown businesses, Like Yada Yada Cafe, and Edwards’s Steakhouse hosted artists, or stayed open late to support the ever-growing Art Walk. Clarksville’s flagship venue for the arts, Downtown Artists Co-op have two artists featured for May.<\/p>\n

Fantastic Chemistry: Cheating Sameness, features works by Regina Mick and Jane Olson.<\/p>\n

\u201cI’m a mixed-media artist,\u201d Mick said. \u201cI mainly focus on abstract acrylic work, but I also do collage. Jane does watercolor, and some collage as well. Together, we brought a lot of different mediums to the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two artists filled the walls of the DAC with more than 30 pieces of original art. Singer\/Songwriter Bobby Keel performed for the larger than usual First Thursday crowd, and the opening was a success.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like the response was great,\u201d Mick said. \u201cIt was one of the best Art Walks that I’ve been to. We had a packed house, and ran out of food pretty quickly. Between us, Jane and I sold between 1\/3 and \u00bd of the art on display. We also saw a lot of new faces. The normal Art Walk crowd was there, but it was really great to see so many new faces.\u201d<\/p>\n
