\"Austin<\/a>Clarksville, TN<\/strong> – Tennessee State Representative Jay Reedy, a U.S. Army veteran and Austin Peay State University alumnus, will be the guest speaker at APSU\u2019s Spring 2018 Military and Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony and Coin Presentation next week.<\/p>\n

The ceremony, set for 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 2nd, 2018 in the Morgan  University Center Ballroom, honors Austin Peay\u2019s graduating students who are either veterans, National Guard, reservists or active-duty military personnel.<\/p>\n

APSU Military and Veteran Graduate Recognition Ceremony to be held Wednesday, May 2nd.<\/p><\/div>\n

As part of the ceremony, each student will receive a red, white and blue graduation cord and one of the University\u2019s special military coins.<\/p>\n

About 20 percent of APSU students have a military connection, and the coin was created in 2011 to honor those individuals.<\/p>\n

Reedy was elected to the Tennessee House of Representatives, District 74, in 2014, where he represents voters in Houston, Humphreys and a portion of Montgomery County. He has served as Deputy House Majority Whip, chair of the House Tennessee Sportsmen\u2019s Caucus and member of the Republican Caucus and Veteran Caucus.<\/p>\n

Reedy enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school, and while stationed at Fort Campbell, he decided to enroll at Austin Peay. He was a member of the ROTC Governors Guard and was named battalion commander in his second year\u2014the same year he became a commissioned officer. He graduated from APSU in 1990 with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture. He is currently the owner of Houston County Lock & Key and a farmer.<\/p>\n

The public is invited to attend the ceremony. Guests may park in any visitor or red parking space, and a parking pass is not required.
