Nathaniel Mather – Safe Harbor<\/p><\/div>\n

The paintings of Nathaniel Mather, in their shallow spaces, childlike renderings of animals, flowers, and rough-edged patches of color are done in water medium materials on canvas and board. Born and raised in California, Nathaniel works in Nashville as an artist and illustrator. This exhibition is sponsored in part by Nashville Arts Magazine.<\/p>\n

Exquisite Miniatures<\/strong>

Miniature – The Janice Elaine<\/p><\/div>\n

Wes and Rachelle Siegrist are an American husband and wife team who mesmerize viewers with miniature paintings so exquisitely crafted that they are often mistaken for tiny photographs. Their tiny treasures, as collectors often refer to them, typically measure less than 9 square inches and appear even more detailed when viewed under magnification!<\/p>\n

A hallmark of their work is their ability to convey the feeling of a larger canvass or the essence of the natural world in miniature. \u201cExquisite Miniatures\u201d consists of fifty signature paintings including landscapes, portraits, still lifes, wildlife, and other subjects by Wes and Rachelle Siegrist.<\/p>\n

Celebrating Women in Business<\/strong>
\nMarch 6th \u2013 April 29th | The Leaf Chronicle Lobby<\/p>\n

In celebration of Women\u2019s History Month, this exhibition uses objects and images from the Museum\u2019s permanent collection to celebrate local businesses throughout Clarksville\u2019s history that have been owned or founded by women. Learn about the Barbara Louise Hospital, First Woman\u2019s Bank, local beauty shops, and more.<\/p>\n

Kathleen Conover: Industrial Evolution<\/strong>
\nMarch 2nd \u2013 May 2nd | Crouch Gallery<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most significant \u2018signature\u2019 element in my work is deep symbolism.\u201d Kathleen Conover received a Master of Arts in Fine Art from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. She did her graduate work in printmaking at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington.<\/p>\n

She holds signature status in many organizations, including the American Water Color Society, and has exhibited her paintings internationally in countries such as France, Turkey, and China.<\/p>\n

Narrative Illusions: The Visions of Mindy Herrin<\/strong>
\nJanuary 16th \u2013 May 6th | Orgain & Bruner Galleries<\/p>\n

Mindy Herrin\u2019s narrative sculpture is created with a combination of metal and alternative materials. Organic by nature, her forms use materials for their tactile properties, creating pieces that move, have the appearance of flesh, and hint to the adventures of being female in everyday life.<\/p>\n

Seasons: Frank Majors<\/strong>
\nMarch 6th \u2013 May 27th | Jostens Gallery<\/p>\n

Regional artist Frank Major\u2019s photography is on display in the Jostens Gallery.<\/p>\n

Our Town: Stories Within Clarksville\u2019s Doorways<\/strong>
\nFebruary 28th \u2013 September 30th | Memory Lane<\/p>\n

An exhibition of regional stories featuring photographs and artifacts from our collection, including: the jail, Trinity Episcopal Church, the Court House, the Capitol Theater, and more.<\/p>\n

First Thursday Art Walk<\/strong>
\nThursday, April 5th, 5:00pm-7:00pm.<\/p>\n

The museum is open to the public with free admission as part of Downtown Clarksville\u2019s First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

Flying High 2018: Southern Soiree<\/strong><\/p>\n

Save the date! Flying High 2018: Southern Soiree will take place on Saturday, May 19th, at the Clarksville Country Club. Tickets will go on sale starting Tuesday, April 2nd. You can purchase online by visiting flyinghigh2018.eventbrite.com or by calling the museum at 931.648.5780.<\/p>\n

Second Saturday Free Admission: Origami Birds<\/strong>
\nSaturday, April 14th<\/p>\n

The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is open with free admission from 10:00am to 5:00pm as part of our Second Saturday Free Admission Day! Please join us in the Family Art Studio to make colorful origami birds in celebration of spring. We will take inspiration from the exhibit \u201cKathleen Conover: Industrial Evolution\u201d on display in the Crouch Gallery until May 2nd.<\/p>\n

For smaller hands, related age-appropriate activities will be available.<\/p>\n

Staff will lead the activity from 10:00am\u201312:00pm and from 2:00pm\u20134:00pm.<\/p>\n

About the Customs House Museum<\/h3>\n

\"Customs<\/a>Located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is the State\u2019s second largest general museum. The original portion of the building was constructed in 1898 as a U.S. Post Office and Customs House for the flourishing tobacco trade. Incorporating a number of architectural styles, the original structure is one of the most photographed buildings in the region.<\/p>\n

With over 35,000 square feet of the region\u2019s best hands-on activities and special events\u2026people of all ages agree \u2013 the Customs House Museum is well worth the stop!<\/p>\n

The Explorer\u2019s Gallery is packed with fun, learning and fantasy in Aunt Alice\u2019s Attic, McGregor\u2019s Market and kitchen, and of course \u2013 the Bubble Cave! Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. Adult admission is $7.00, Senior Citizens and College ID $5.00, Ages 6 to 18 $3.00, and under six years and Museum members are free.<\/p>\n
