\"AustinClarksville, TN<\/strong> – In late July 2017, Mark and Jeri Blick visited the Austin Peay State University farm to officially establish the Brock Blick Endowed Scholarship in Agriculture, in honor of their late son, Brock. But their generous gift to the University that afternoon represented only the first phase of a larger plan to honor Brock\u2019s legacy.<\/p>\n

Last fall, thanks to overwhelming community support, the Blick\u2019s created the Brock Blick Fund of Excellence in Agriculture at APSU.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve made a special commitment to Austin Peay so his legacy will go on and on forever,\u201d Mark said<\/p>\n

\u201cHe just loved to be around cows,\u201d Jeri added. \u201cI just feel like this is the best place to honor his legacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

At 6:00pm on Thursday, April 5th, the University will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly named Brock Blick Animal Science Facility at the APSU Farm and Environmental Education Center, at 1991 Pickens Road. In 2016, the University opened the $1 million, state-of-the-art animal science teaching facility to provide room for the Department of Agriculture\u2019s booming enrollment. That building, now named in honor of Brock Blick, offers space for classes, labs and other agriculture activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to make a pledge that we\u2019ll make sure he\u2019s not forgotten,\u201d Dr. Alisa White, APSU president, said to the Blicks in July. \u201cYou\u2019ll always remember him, you\u2019ll always have that. But we\u2019ll make sure that other people know, and not just what he did but the kind of heart he had and the kind of heart his family had.\u201d<\/p>\n

The community is invited to the April 5th ceremony. Parking will be at the Montgomery County Department of Motor Vehicles, 220 West Dunbar Cave Road, with shuttles providing transportation to the farm.<\/p>\n
