\"FirstClarksville, TN<\/strong> – Produced by The Downtown Clarksville Association, First Thursday Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour spanning a 5-block radius that combines visual art, live music, engaging events and more in the heart of Downtown Clarksville.<\/p>\n

With 10+ venues, bars and businesses participating each month, the First Thursday Art Walk in Clarksville is the ultimate opportunity to savor and support local creative talent.<\/p>\n

The February Art Walk will be held March 1st, 2018 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the shops and galleries on Public Square, Franklin Street, and Strawberry Alley.<\/p>\n

The participating businesses are listed below as well as a description of the work they will be exhibiting and services they will be offering during the event.<\/p>\n

Downtown Artists Co-op (96 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

The DAC is an association of talented local artists and interested patrons dedicated to promoting the visual arts in the Clarksville\/Montgomery County area. Our objectives are to sponsor art exhibitions of work by Co-op members and regional artists, to provide continuing support for the Co-op and its membership through the sale of art work, to encourage arts education with outreach programs and scholarship fundraisers, and to develop membership services which directly support the arts community.<\/p>\n

Artist Information<\/h4>\n

\u201cMA+VE\u201d <\/strong>(Maeve)<\/p>\n

MA+VE (Maeve) is about celebrating the sacral feminine and Venusian beauty through the eyes of D.C.Thomas.<\/p>\n

The artist has embarked on a lifetime journey to depict her Madonnian and Venusian experiences through visual compositions which are meant to encourage contemplation and confrontation.<\/p>\n

For over two decades, The Framemaker has offered a unique selection of frames and art services to the Middle Tennessee area.<\/p>\n

Artist Information<\/h4>\n

New Work by Blaine Gundersen<\/strong>
\nThe Framemaker proudly presents new work by Blaine Gundersen. This exhibit is part of Clarksville\u2019s First Thursday Art Walk on March 1st, 2018. An opening reception will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The exhibit will remain on display at the Framemaker throughout the month of March during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 10:00am to 5:00pm).<\/p>\n

[320left]Gundersen is a native of Jackson, Tennessee, and is currently a senior at Austin Peay State University (APSU). She has interned at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens & Museum of Art, has shown at the LIC-A (Long Island City Artists) gallery in New York, and received an Undergraduate Research Enrichment Fund Grant through APSU.<\/p>\n

The artist states, \u201cBeing able to explore the human body through a different lens while in studio classes, and to then apply those ideas to scientific disciplines (genetics, biology, anatomy, etc.), elevates my work. It is stunningly beautiful and fantastically grotesque.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Framemaker is located at the corner of North Second Street and Georgia Avenue, across from the Clarksville Academy.<\/p>\n

The Roxy Regional Theatre (100 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

Peg Harvill Gallery<\/strong><\/p>\n

For those who enjoy the visual arts, the Peg Harvill Gallery, located just beyond the lobby, hosts twelve shows annually featuring locally and nationally known artisans. Shows generally open the first Thursday of each month for our First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

Artist Information<\/h4>\n

The Roxy Regional Theatre\u2019s Peg Harvill Gallery is proud to local photographer, David Magers, during the March First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

David Magers is a local photographer (specializing in birds) and musician (playing in the Red River Breeze Celtic band). His work has been featured in many Clarksville area venues and he has authored two articles on bird photography in the Tennessee Conservationist Magazine. David\u2019s March 2018 Artwalk show is titled \u201cNature: A Medley,\u201d in which he encourages each of us to venture outside to witness the beauty, and listen to the musical \u201cMedley,\u201d of Nature.<\/p>\n

Couture Crush (125 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

Artist Information<\/h4>\n

Couture Crush is proud to host local artist, Jane Olson, during the March First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

Jane Sharpe Olson is a native Tennessean, originally from Memphis. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with a degree in European History and French, and a minor in Art History. She is a practicing attorney with Olson & Olson, PLC in downtown Clarksville.<\/p>\n

Bright, strong colors and images permeate her art, and she uses mainly watercolor paints and manipulated, hand-painted papers in her paintings and collages. Jane finds inspiration in the works of famous artists such as Cezanne, Picasso, Matisse, and Kadinsky, as well as Abstract Expressionists.<\/p>\n

Edward\u2019s Steakhouse (107 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

Artist Information<\/h4>\n

Edward\u2019s Steakhouse is proud host local photographer, Josh Vaughn, during the March First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

Josh Vaughn was born and raised in Indiana and moved to Clarksville in 2010 after completing 6 and a half years in the Air Force. While serving as an Air Force TACP Josh had the opportunity to photograph all over the world serving 3 combat deployments and spent 3 years living in Germany.<\/p>\n

[320right]While attending Austin Peay he became a staff photographer for the \u201cAll State\u201d student newspaper. While working for the paper Josh fell in love with photojournalism, sports, and action photography eventually became the Photo Editor.<\/p>\n

As photo editor he won a handful of photography awards and was invited to Chicago to be a guest speaker at the Collegiate Journalism Conference to talk about the benefits of student publications utilizing veteran students to supplement their young journalism staffs.<\/p>\n

Recently Josh has been focusing on commercial photography, senior portraits, families and fashion photography. His true passion is motorsports and aviation photography but he strives to diversify his body of work in any way possible. Josh is a 2017 Graduate of Leadership Clarksville, a photo ambassador for Visit Clarksville, a member of the Clarksville Networking Group, Veterans Coalition, APSU Veteran Alumni Association, Clarksville Friends of Photography and a member of the Professional Photographers Association.<\/p>\n

\u201cCreating is Life\u201d | Exhibit by: Olasubomi Bashorun<\/strong>
\nOlasubomi Bashorun graduated with an art degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and now lives and works in the Middle Tennessee area. In addition to creating beautiful original work, he teaches art, instructs ballroom dancing and hosts creative workshops. Olasubomi\u2019s artistic inspiration was fostered and influenced, in part, by his high school art teacher, Kathleen Blake.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have always had talent to see and create, but she made me realize what art can do for the mind and soul. She taught me to be creative and express myself with my art. I\u2019ve been doing that ever since.\u201d \u201cI believe that everyone of us should create. Sure, some peoples creation maybe more esthetically pleasing than others. But its not only about the outcome, it is about the process of starting from nothing, adding the first scribble then creating relationships from scribble to line, working through rough edges and the mistakes and then knowing when to walk away. Creating is for us all to get lost in something, express words, moods, feelings. Creating is life.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is Tennessee\u2019s second largest general interest museum. It features fine art, history, and children\u2019s exhibits.<\/p>\n

Nashville artist and gallery owner Julia Martin paints the surreal moments just before sleep, when lucid dreaming and hallucinations often occur. This series presents impressionistic figurative paintings in a world where the real and the imagined appear one and the same. This exhibition is sponsored in part by Nashville Arts Magazine.<\/p>\n

Kathleen Conover: Industrial Evolution<\/strong>
\nMarch 2nd \u2013 May 2nd | Crouch Gallery<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most significant \u2018signature\u2019 element in my work is deep symbolism.\u201d Kathleen Conover received a Master of Arts in Fine Art from Northern Michigan University in Marquette, Michigan. She did her graduate work in printmaking at Gonzaga University, Spokane, Washington. She holds signature status in many organizations, including the American Water Color Society, and has exhibited her paintings internationally in countries such as France, Turkey, and China.<\/p>\n

Mindy Herrin\u2019s narrative sculpture is created with a combination of metal and alternative materials.<\/p>\n

Organic by nature, her forms use materials for their tactile properties, creating pieces that move, have the appearance of flesh, and hint to the adventures of being female in everyday life.<\/p>\n

The Art of Mixed Media Inspired Artists<\/strong>
