\"Clarksville-MontgomeryClarksville, TN<\/strong> – February is African-American History Month, and the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library is celebrating in a variety of ways! There will be special programs all month, intended to educate participants on African-American History. All of the library\u2019s events are completely free of charge.<\/p>\n

Have you ever wondered about your ancestry but aren\u2019t sure where to begin your research? The Beginner Genealogy Class this weekend will focus specifically on studying African-American genealogy. All experience levels are welcome to attend on Saturday, February 10th from 10:00-11:00 a.m. The class will be held in the computer lab on the second floor.<\/p>\n

Saturday, February 10th the celebration continues with a movie showing of Malcolm X in the Brown Harvey Sr. Genealogy Room from 2:00pm-5:30pm.<\/p>\n

The library\u2019s As the Page Turns Book Club is also celebrating African-American History Month by reading Zora Neale Hurston\u2019s Their Eyes Were Watching God. Hurston is a renowned African-American writer who is celebrated for her great contributions to American literature. As the Page Turns Book Club will meet on Thursday, February 15th from 6:00pm-7:30pm in the Boaz Board Room on the second floor.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, February 17th there will be a Children\u2019s Story Time focused on local Olympic Gold Medalist, Wilma Rudolph. Children of all ages and their parents and\/or guardians are invited to learn about Wilma Rudolph from 2:00pm-2:30pm.<\/p>\n

The library will be showing three documentaries during the month. These showings will be on Saturday, February 24th from 3:00pm-4:30pm in the Brown Harvey Sr. Genealogy Room on the second floor. Check out the library\u2019s special book display for February, as well. Everyone is encouraged to stop by the library and learn about African-American history throughout the month of February.<\/p>\n
