She received her Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degrees in Classical Studies from Vanderbilt University, teaching Latin, Art History, and Greek Mythology for a number of years. Aretha currently owns the Iyengar Yoga Center of Nashville and spends her free time painting and sculpting.<\/p>\n<p>This exhibition is sponsored by Nashville Arts Magazine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Our Town (Stories of Clarksville)<\/strong><br \/>\nFebruary 28th \u2013 September 30th | Memory Lane<\/p>\n<p>An exhibition of regional stories featuring photographs and artifacts from our collection, including: the jail, Trinity Episcopal Church, the Court House, the Capitol Theater, and more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Celebrating African American Businesses of Clarksville<\/strong><br \/>\nJanuary 8th \u2013 February 28th | The Leaf Chronicle Lobby<\/p>\n<p>This exhibition uses objects and images from the Museum\u2019s permanent collection to celebrate local African American businesses throughout Clarksville\u2019s history, such as Pope Garrett Dry Cleaners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sloane Bibb: Storied Elements<\/strong><br \/>\nJanuary 11th \u2013 February 28th | Crouch Gallery<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_411252\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Sloane-Bibb-web.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-411252\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-411252\" title=\"Sloane Bibb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Sloane-Bibb-web-480x369.jpg\" alt=\"Sloane Bibb\" width=\"480\" height=\"369\"\/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-411252\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sloane Bibb<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Wood, metal, paper, found objects, tar, and wax make up Atlanta artist Sloane Bibb\u2019s mixed media pieces. Organic by nature, her forms use materials for their tactile properties, creating pieces that move, have the appearance of flesh, and hint to the adventures of being female in everyday life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Art of Mixed Media Inspired Artists<\/strong><br \/>\nJanuary 16th \u2013 March 11th | Kimbrough Gallery<\/p>\n<p>Mixed Media Inspired Artists (MMIA) is an artists collective founded by Sandra Washburn. Specializing in acrylic\/mixed media, this exhibit showcases artwork from their members.<\/p>\n<h3>Activities<\/h3>\n<p><strong>First Thursday Art Walk<\/strong><br \/>\nThursday, February 1st | 5:00pm &#8211; 7:00pm<\/p>\n<p>The museum is open to the public with free admission as part of Downtown Clarksville\u2019s First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n<p>[320right]<strong>Second Saturday Free Admission: Pop-Up Valentines<\/strong><br \/>\nSaturday, February 10th | 10:00am-12:00pm and 2:00pm-4:00pm<\/p>\n<p>The Customs House Museum &amp; Cultural Center is open with free admission from 10:00am to 5:00pm as part of our Second Saturday Free Admission Day! Learn to make cards that really pop with our pop-up-valentine tutorial in the Family Art Studio! From 10:00am &#8211; 12:00pm and 2:00pm &#8211; 4:00pm we\u2019ll be exploring techniques to make cards with features that pop-out when you open them.<\/p>\n<p>In celebration of National Children\u2019s Dental Health Month, our Free Day sponsor Clarksville Dental Center will be at the museum offering free giveaways to visitors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jewelry Sale at Seasons: The Museum Store<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>During the month of February, Seasons: The Museum Store is offering 10% off all jewelry!
