Who gets to define and invent it? How much of our older Western Mythology is relevant now, and how would it be updated? Organic by nature, her forms use materials for their tactile properties, creating pieces that move, have the appearance of flesh, and hint to the adventures of being female in everyday life.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>[320center]<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Art of Mixed Media Inspired Artists<\/strong><br \/>\nJanuary 16th \u2013 March 11th | Kimbrough Gallery<\/p>\n<p>Mixed Media Inspired Artists (MMIA) is an artists collective founded by Sandra Washburn. Specializing in acrylic\/mixed media, this exhibit showcases artwork from their members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Helping Around the House: Toys from the Museum Collection<\/strong><br \/>\nNovember 15th \u2013 January 24th | Memory Lane<\/p>\n<p>See a variety of toys from the Customs House Museum &amp; Cultural Center\u2019s permanent collection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Doggerels: The Illustrations of Edward Gilman<\/strong><br \/>\nNovember 22nd \u2013 January 28th | Memory Lane<\/p>\n<p>Edward R. Gilman was a World War I U.S. Navy artist, painting ships while stationed at Charlestown Harbor in Boston. He moved to New York to work as an illustrator. His lithograph printing included such clients as United Fruit, Betty Crocker, and Coca-Cola. Doggerels is brought to the Museum courtesy of Jane and Gerry Gilman.<\/p>\n<h3>Activities<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Champagne &amp; Chocolate 2018<\/strong><br \/>\nThursday, January 25th, 5:30pm<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, January 25th, 2018, Champagne and Chocolate is back for its ninth installment to benefit the Customs House Museum &amp; Cultural Center. Doors open at 5:30pm at the Museum. Don\u2019t miss this signature event of the winter season!<\/p>\n<p>This elegant and highly popular event features champagne, along with delectable hors d\u2019oeuvres and scrumptious desserts. Live music will set the mood for active bidding in the evening\u2019s silent auction, where you will find gift baskets, jewelry, and original artwork.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from the event and silent auction go towards supporting the mission of the Customs House Museum &amp; Cultural Center.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets to this event are $50.00 per person and are on sale now! We\u2019ll be making paper snowflakes and snowmen in the Family Art Studio; this activity is included with no charge. Enjoy our winter art activities all month long.<\/p>\n<p>All activities are free with your museum membership. Non-members pay regular admission fees. Finally, get \u201call aboard\u201d to see our fantastic model trains. Our volunteer engineers \u201cride the rails\u201d every Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays.
