Tom\u2019s work has been recognized internationally. His sculptures can be found in private and permanent collections such as Tennessee State Museum, the White House in D.C., Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Austin Peay State University, Cheekwood Museum of Art, Clarksville Public Library, the Customs House Museum &amp; Cultural Center, and the Nashville Airport.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ann Nichols: Split Focus<\/strong><br \/>\nOctober 2nd \u2013 December 3rd | Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery<\/p>\n<p>Chattanooga Artist Ann Nichols is a contemporary realist painter who works in the medium of oil. Many of her paintings are inspired by art historical images such as Renaissance portraits, flowers by Georgia O\u2019Keeffe, Dutch floral paintings, botanicals, Magritte\u2019s surrealism and Martin Johnson Heade\u2019s images of orchids and hummingbirds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tamara Reynolds: Southern Route<\/strong><br \/>\nOctober 24th \u2013 January 3rd | Kimbrough Gallery<\/p>\n<p>Photographer Tamara Reynolds was born and currently lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where she has worked for 25 years as a commercial and editorial photographer for magazines and advertising agencies focusing on portraiture and lifestyle imagery.<\/p>\n<p>Reynolds says about her Southern Route series: \u201cThis project is about resolving my conflicted feelings I\u2018ve experienced as a Southerner. I love the South, but I have sometimes been embarrassed to claim it as my home. I chose to explore the South on back roads and across railroad tracks. In so doing, I found I could appreciate my home despite its failings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Veiled Abstractions: L.A. Bachman<\/strong><br \/>\nOctober 24th \u2013 January 7th | Jostens Gallery<\/p>\n<p>Nashville artist L.A. Bachman\u2019s abstract art explores family, belief, responsibility, failure, and desire, and is an arena for self-reflection. Hints of human form are veiled by an abstract layer like lace across the body, suggesting tangible objects amidst unrecognizable ones.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Helping Around the House: Toys from the Museum Collection<\/strong><br \/>\nNovember 15th \u2013 January 28th | Memory Lane<\/p>\n<p>See a variety of toys from the Customs House Museum &amp; Cultural Center\u2019s permanent collection.<\/p>\n<h3>Activities<\/h3>\n<p><strong>November Activities in the Family Art Studio<\/strong><br \/>\nBirds in Art<\/p>\n<p>Visit the Family Art Studio to create your own pictures of birds using yarn, toilet paper tubes, paper plates, construction paper, and magazine pictures. Make a pair of binoculars. Then look around the museum for birds. Who made them and what are they made of? Find the toy birds on Explorers\u2019 Landing. How many can you identify? Make bird rubbing to take home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>First Thursday Art Walk<\/strong><br \/>\nNovember 2nd, 5:00pm &#8211; 7:00pm<\/p>\n<p>The museum is open to the public with free admission as part of Downtown Clarksville\u2019s First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Second Saturday Free Admission: Paper Poppies<\/strong><br \/>\nNovember 11th, 10:00am &#8211; 5:00pm<\/p>\n<p>The museum is open to the public with free admission as part of our Second Saturday Free Admission Day. In honor of Veteran\u2019s Day, we\u2019ll be making paper poppies in the Family Art Studio.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Holiday Model Trains<\/strong><br \/>\nNovember 24th, 10:00am \u2013 1:00pm<\/p>\n<p>Our volunteer train crew will be manning the trains for a special run.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pinch Pots<\/strong><br \/>\nSaturday, November 25th | 10:00am &#8211; 12:00pm &amp; 2:00pm &#8211; 4:00pm<\/p>\n<p>A pinch pot is a style of pottery made by pinching and shaping the clay by hand. Join us in the Family Art Studio while we explore this pottery technique while you make your own pinch pot.<\/p>\n<p>All activities are free with your museum membership. Non-members pay regular admission fees. Incorporating a number of architectural styles, the original structure is one of the most photographed buildings in the region.<\/p>\n<p>With over 35,000 square feet of the region\u2019s best hands-on activities and special events\u2026people of all ages agree \u2013 the Customs House Museum is well worth the stop!<\/p>\n<p>The Explorer\u2019s Gallery is packed with fun, learning and fantasy in Aunt Alice\u2019s Attic, McGregor\u2019s Market and kitchen, and of course \u2013 the Bubble Cave! Finally, get \u201call aboard\u201d to see our fantastic model trains. Our volunteer engineers \u201cride the rails\u201d every Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays.
