\"AustinClarksville, TN<\/strong> – On Saturday, April 8th, 2017, the Montgomery County Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Task Force, the Tennessee Commission on Children and Youth, the MerryInGOD Foundation and Austin Peay State University will present the 7th<\/sup> Annual Joint Conference on Juvenile Justice.<\/p>\n

The conference will take place from 8:30am \u2013 4:30pm at the Morgan University Center on the University campus.<\/p>\n

Attendance is free and open to the public, however all attendees must pre-register by emailing conferenceonjuvenilejustice@gmail.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The conference target audience includes students, parents, religious leaders, social workers, psychologist, educators, judges, lawyers, law enforcement officers, concerned citizens, community activists, administrators and others who are interested in the issues that confront our youth.<\/p>\n

Presentations have been varied and have included timely topics, such as: Impact of Social Media on Your Life, Mentoring, Gang Awareness, Cyberbullying, Bullying, Addiction to Hopelessness, the Juvenile Justice System, Rachel\u2019s Challenge, Follow Your Dreams, Suicide Prevention, Your Constitutional Rights: What to do When Stopped by the Police and others.<\/p>\n

Sessions and keynote speakers this year include \u201cPerseverance,\u201d led by Col. Telita Crosland, commander of the U.S. Army Medical Activity at Fort Campbell \u2013 Blanchfield Army Community Hospital; \u201cPotential Plus Perspective Plus Performance Equals Purposeful Prosperity,\u201d led by Richard \u201cReason\u201d Garrett, Clarksville city councilman and executive director of LEAP Organization; \u201cEqual Justice Under the Law: The Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Task Force,\u201d led by Dr. Merriel Bullock-Neal, attorney, Supreme Court Rule 31 Mediator and chair of the Montgomery County DMC Task Force; and \u201cUpdate on the Montgomery County Juvenile Justice System,\u201d led by Montgomery County Juvenile Court Judge Tim Barnes.<\/p>\n

Montgomery County is one of five counties, including Davidson County, Hamilton County, Shelby County, Knox County and Montgomery County, that have a DMC Task Force in the state of Tennessee.<\/p>\n
