The small but well-kept home at 451 Martin Street. was donated to the non-profit organization by the City of Clarksville.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_373045\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/City-of-Clarksville-partners-with-Flourishing-Families-on-Home.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-373045\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-373045\" title=\"Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan greets the Lee family, Chasity, Vincent, Za\u2019Den, Kay\u2019Lisa and La\u2019Miyah as they prepare to move into a new home provided by Flourishing Families, a Clarksville social service agency.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/City-of-Clarksville-partners-with-Flourishing-Families-on-Home-480x320.jpg\" alt=\"Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan greets the Lee family, Chasity, Vincent, Za\u2019Den, Kay\u2019Lisa and La\u2019Miyah as they prepare to move into a new home provided by Flourishing Families, a Clarksville social service agency. \" width=\"480\" height=\"320\"\/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-373045\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan greets the Lee family, Chasity, Vincent, Za\u2019Den, Kay\u2019Lisa and La\u2019Miyah as they prepare to move into a new home provided by Flourishing Families, a Clarksville social service agency.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->New residents Chasity and Vincent Lee and their three children will live in the home for the next several months while working through housing challenges created by multiple illnesses and other hardships.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a great example of the City using its ability to gather resources and then turning them over to our wonderful social agencies to manage and deliver services,\u201d Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan said. \u201cThis is all about coordinating our response and giving people a hand up out of trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Flourishing Families is a seven-year-old Clarksville non-profit founded by sisters Calendra Blanks and Canadra Jenkins that helps the homeless find long-term solutions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur mission is to create second chances for homeless and low income families by providing them with the skills and resources that they need to thrive,\u201d Canadra Jenkins said.<\/p>\n<p>Keith Lampkin, the City\u2019s director of Housing and Community Development, said the home was built several years ago for an elderly resident using federal Community Development Block Grant funding. When that resident passed away, the home reverted to the City, which then found a qualified and willing recipient in Flourishing Families.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis transitional house is a great new resource for us,\u201d Calendra Blanks said. \u201cThis allows us to help a family that has shown a commitment to helping themselves. We do a complete game plan for the family, and help them manage the process and meet goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chasity Lee said Flourishing Families was helping the family settle into schools and classes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re a family trying to do better,\u201d Chasity Jenkins said. \u201cFlourishing Families has been courteous and generous, and we can\u2019t thank them and the City of Clarksville enough.
