Sponsored in part by Tennessee State Museum and Austin Peay Department of Art &amp; Design.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carol LeBaron: Life Source<\/strong><br \/>\nMay 5th \u2013 July 31st<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee artist Carol LeBaron\u2019s fine art textiles transform remembered light to imagery, collecting fragments from both the landscape of her remembered experience and observation of natural forms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cumberland River \u2013 An American Legacy<\/strong><br \/>\nMay 5th \u2013 July 31st<\/p>\n<p>This series of plein air paintings by Larry Richardson explore the Cumberland River. Sponsored in part by Legends Bank.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Taking a Look at Cave Johnson<\/strong><br \/>\nMay 11th \u2013 July 31st<\/p>\n<p>Take a closer look at the life of Clarksvillian Cave Johnson. Johnson was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1828, and later served as president of the Bank of Tennessee from 1854 to 1860. He was also a close friend and advisor to James K. Polk during his successful presidential campaign.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amy Chase: Rediscovered Relationships<\/strong><br \/>\nJuly 1st \u2013 July 31st<\/p>\n<p>[320right]Kentucky artist Amy Chase\u2019s ceramic work focuses on representing personal relationships, memories or situations of her experiences. The surfaces consist of intricate patterns that are applied using precise silkscreened slip and glazing techniques.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leisure Time<\/strong><br \/>\nMay 5th \u2013 August 7th<\/p>\n<p>This exhibit explores the theme of hunting, fishing, and other outdoor leisure activities in the area with objects from the Customs House Museum &amp; Cultural Center\u2019s permanent collection.<\/p>\n<h3>Activities<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Art &amp; Lunch: Carol LeBaron<\/strong><br \/>\nThursday, June 28th, 12:15pm<\/p>\n<p>Join artist Carol Lebaron as she discusses her textile work in the exhibit Carol LeBaron: Life Source. Admission is free.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Children\u2019s Summer Camp: Explorers\u2019 Camp<\/strong><br \/>\nJuly 12th \u2013 15th. Registration opens June 1st.<\/p>\n<p>Explorers\u2019 Camp is a half-day summer camp filled with exciting and educational activities for children ages 7-10. Each day our education staff will provide several exciting activities on a variety of themes combined with tours of the museum. All camp activities are a fun blend of science, engineering, art and history, allowing kids to explore, learn, create, and play!<\/p>\n<p>Children must be registered in advance to attend Explorers\u2019 Camp. Reserve your child\u2019s spot now before they\u2019re all gone! Registration opens June 1st. Cost is $40.00 for Museum Members and $50.00 for non-members, due at time of registration. Then stop by the art studio to make a patriotic pin wheel (pinwheel craft will not use pins).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">July 20th: Picasso Portraits<\/span><br \/>\nTake a look at William Shackelford\u2019s unique portrait style and visit the art studio to create your own unique portraits inspired by another unique artist: Picasso!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">July 27th: Bubble Science<\/span><br \/>\nTest your knowledge of bubbles outside in the courtyard, then head inside to explore our bubble cave!<br \/>\n*In the event of poor weather, a different activity will be offered indoors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Family Free Day: A Tree is Nice<\/strong><br \/>\nSaturday, July 9th<\/p>\n<p>Discover the wonder of the tree as seen through the eyes of the artist. Please join us in the Children\u2019s Art Room for a day of tree-making. Admission is free at the museum all day from 10:00am \u2013 5:00pm as part of our Second Saturday Free Day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Children\u2019s Art Room is Open Daily!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>July\u2019s art activities are inspired by illustrators and their picture books. Ms. Sue will frequently visit the Children\u2019s Art Room to show children more of her large collection of picture books and some of the unusual objects she collects.<\/p>\n<p>All activities are free with your museum membership. Incorporating a number of architectural styles, the original structure is one of the most photographed buildings in the region.<\/p>\n<p>With over 35,000 square feet of the region\u2019s best hands-on activities and special events\u2026people of all ages agree \u2013 the Customs House Museum is well worth the stop!<\/p>\n<p>The Explorer\u2019s Gallery is packed with fun, learning and fantasy in Aunt Alice\u2019s Attic, McGregor\u2019s Market and kitchen, and of course \u2013 the Bubble Cave! Finally, get \u201call aboard\u201d to see our fantastic model trains. Our volunteer engineers \u201cride the rails\u201d every Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays.
