Eighteen of these are on exhibit in the Customs House Museum\u2019s show.<\/p>\n<p>Larry began this project in 2014, working his way along the river path. The result is a suite of plein air paintings, many of which highlight scenes familiar to those who live in Tennessee or Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>Artist-naturalist-writer Larry Richardson grew up in Western Kentucky captivated by the outdoor opportunities of his surrounding rural environment. The nearby Cumberland River was prominent in local lore and recreation.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout much of his career, Larry has been involved with environmental conservation which has included writing, art production for the wholesale\/retail market and fundraising for conservation organizations.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_346523\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/Morning-Challenge-Elk-at-LBL-Larry-R.-Richardson.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-346523\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-346523\" title=\"Morning Challenge - Elk at LBL. Richardson)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Graduating from Austin Peay State University with a Master\u2019s Degree in Biology, his professional environmental career included positions as Tennessee Parks Chief Naturalist and Chief of Information-Education for the Tennessee Wildlife Agency, where he also served as the editor of the agency magazine and Ducks Unlimited as National Director of Field Fundraising Initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Larry Richardson\u2019s gallery talk is free and open to the public. Cumberland River: An American Legacy will be on exhibit through July 31st. It is sponsored in part by Legends Bank. Incorporating a number of architectural styles, the original structure is one of the most photographed buildings in the region.<\/p>\n<p>With over 35,000 square feet of the region\u2019s best hands-on activities and special events\u2026people of all ages agree \u2013 the Customs House Museum is well worth the stop!<\/p>\n<p>The Explorer\u2019s Gallery is packed with fun, learning and fantasy in Aunt Alice\u2019s Attic, McGregor\u2019s Market and kitchen, and of course \u2013 the Bubble Cave! Finally, get \u201call aboard\u201d to see our fantastic model trains. Our volunteer engineers \u201cride the rails\u201d every Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. Adult admission is $7.00, Senior Citizens and College ID $5.00, Ages 6 to 18 $3.00, and under six years and Museum members are free.<\/p>\n<p>The Customs House Museum is located at 200 South Second Street.
