\"Clarksville'sClarksville, TN<\/strong> – Each year the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center features the art of women in celebration of Women\u2019s History Month. This year, Tennessee women artisans are showcased in the newly renovated Kimbrough Gallery. The exhibit, titled A Woman\u2019s Touch, includes sculpture, jewelry, clothing, furniture, printmaking, and ceramics.<\/p>\n

Participating in the exhibit are artists Kim Winkle, Anne Rob, Claudia Lee, Susan DeMay, Jeanie Stephenson, Jennifer Knowles, Virginia Fisher, Jennifer Crescuillo, Vicki Vipperman, Brenda Stein, and Melina Ludwig.<\/p>\n

Annual Women\u2019s History Month Exhibition on display now at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center.<\/p><\/div>\n

Virginia Fisher is a metal smith from Memphis, Tennessee. Her copper bowls create patina-rich patterns of never-ending movement that come to life under the gallery lights. Virginia\u2019s work was recently included in the Tennessee craft theme at the Governor\u2019s mansion. Claudia Lee is a studio artist, designer, consultant, author, and instructor working in handmade paper. She is a recipient of a Master\u2019s Grant from the Tennessee Arts Commission. She was chosen to design and create the 2011 Governor\u2019s Arts Awards. Claudia\u2019s work has been published in more than thirty books and journals. Her work can be found in private and corporate collections.<\/p>\n

Kim Winkle exhibits internationally, including SOFA Chicago, Wanted Design NYC and the Architectural Digest Home Show. Her work has been included in a number of publications, including Fine Woodworking, Woodworker, and Woodworker West magazines and the books 500 Tables, 500 Chairs, Fine Woodworking Design Book 8, among others. She has been awarded 4 Niche awards, a State of Tennessee Individual Artist Award in 2011 and the Society of Arts and Crafts (Boston) John D. Mineck furniture fellowship in 2014.<\/p>\n

Woodturner Brenda Stein will be the guest speaker on April 5 for the museum\u2019s monthly Art & Lunch program. Brenda\u2019s work can be found in select galleries and many private collections. She was selected to design and create the 2007 Governor\u2019s Awards in the Arts for the state of Tennessee. This event begins at 12:15 pm and is free to the public<\/p>\n

A Woman\u2019s Touch is on exhibit through May 1st. Located at the corner of Second and Commerce Streets, the Customs House Museum is the second largest general interest museum in Tennessee. Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. The Museum features rotating shows, permanent exhibits, multiple galleries, and an interactive children\u2019s area.<\/p>\n

\"Customs<\/a>Located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is the State\u2019s second largest general museum. The original portion of the building was constructed in 1898 as a U.S. Post Office and Customs House for the flourishing tobacco trade. Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. Adult admission is $7.00, Senior Citizens and College ID $5.00, Ages 6 to 18 $3.00, and under six years and Museum members are free.<\/p>\n
