He earned his master’s degree at Murray State University, and he has been working at Madisonville in a situation like the Springfield (Robertson County) campus.”

The Highland Crest classroom facility in Springfield, which houses both APSU and Volunteer State Community College, currently has students enrolled in K-6 teaching licensure and social work programs. The facility, which is lookinginto expanding its degree offerings, is geared toward making a college education accessible for individuals living in and around Robertson County. Highland Crest has produced several K-6 program graduates, and this May, the campus will produce its first APSU graduates in social work.

“There’s so much untapped potential here,” Wilson said. “We really want to get into the community and let them know we’re here and that we have resources available to them if they want to continue their education.”

Students taking classes through Volunteer State are also eligible for the APSU Promise Scholarship once they earn their associate degree. An unlimited number of scholarships are available for VSCC graduates who have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher.

Wilson is at the Highland Crest campus from Monday through Friday, and he can helpsteer students in the right direction in terms of admission and academic counseling. In addition to earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology, with a minor in international studies, from APSU in 2011, he also met his future wife on campus back in 2007.

“Austin Peay has a rich history for me,” he said. “I first met my wife in Hand Village, and I proposed to her in front of the Browning Building.
