His discussion will cover his extensive collection of American flags, political banners, and other memorabilia found in the exhibit Of Stars &amp; Stripes: From the Collection of Dr. John Olson.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Olson\u2019s presentation will begin at 3:00pm in the Orgain gallery.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_332806\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/American-Flag-Collection-1.jpg\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-332806\" class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-332806\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-332806\" title=\"American Flag Collection\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/American-Flag-Collection-1-480x360.jpg\" alt=\"American Flag Collection\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-332806\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">American Flag Collection<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->This event is free with paid museum admission or museum membership.<\/p>\n<p>Join the discussion as he gives insight into objects that tell a visual tale of our states. Objects include original pre-Civil War flags, reproductions from the Colonial era, and more. Also on display is a 34 Star Parade Flag made of silk; this flag was reportedly flown at the dedication of the Gettysburg National Cemetery on November 19th, 1863.<\/p>\n<p>John R. Olson, MD is a practicing Clinical Pathologist in Columbia, TN. The original portion of the building was constructed in 1898 as a U.S. Post Office and Customs House for the flourishing tobacco trade. Incorporating a number of architectural styles, the original structure is one of the most photographed buildings in the region.<\/p>\n<p>With over 35,000 square feet of the region\u2019s best hands-on activities and special events\u2026people of all ages agree \u2013 the Customs House Museum is well worth the stop!<\/p>\n<p>The Explorer\u2019s Gallery is packed with fun, learning and fantasy in Aunt Alice\u2019s Attic, McGregor\u2019s Market and kitchen, and of course \u2013 the Bubble Cave! Finally, get \u201call aboard\u201d to see our fantastic model trains. Our volunteer engineers \u201cride the rails\u201d every Sunday afternoon from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. Adult admission is $7.00, Senior Citizens and College ID $5.00, Ages 6 to 18 $3.00, and under six years and Museum members are free.<\/p>\n<p>The Customs House Museum is located at 200 South Second Street.
