City of Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, Montgomery County Chief of Staff Jeff Truitt, Chamber of Commerce Director Melinda Shepard and City Chief of Administration Charlie Gentry attended their green ribbon cutting to congratulate the company on earning their certification.<\/p>\n

Clarksville Superior Distribution Branch Manager, Wesley Norfleet, provided a tour of the facility and discussed the quality of their products.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you can see everything comes in cardboard,\u201d said Norfleet. Mayor McMillan asked who led the initiative and Norfleet gave his operations manager, Phil Bishop, the credit for bringing everyone on board. Norfleet continued, \u201cPete Reed was the first one to talk to me about recycling, and then Michelle Newell and Phil, so I thought I\u2019d better get started and when we did, we started saving money on our trash bills right away.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bishop added, \u201cLike Wesley said, we began the cardboard recycling and then the paper, cans and plastic bottles. We\u2019ve taken steps to save electricity including keeping the bay lights off in the warehouse during the day because of all the natural light. We\u2019ve also reduced our fleet mileage through more efficient route deliveries.\u201d<\/p>\n
