Tickets are $5.00 and may be purchased at the door.<\/p>\n<p>V-Day, a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls, raises money and awareness through benefit productions of Ensler\u2019s play and other artistic works.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_334649\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Austin-Peay-State-University-hosting-V-Day-events-this-February-and-March.jpg\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-334649\" class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-334649\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-334649\" title=\"V-Day events to be held at Austin Peay in February and March.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Austin-Peay-State-University-hosting-V-Day-events-this-February-and-March-480x316.jpg\" alt=\"V-Day events to be held at Austin Peay in February and March.\" width=\"480\" height=\"316\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-334649\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">V-Day events to be held at Austin Peay in February and March.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more-->The V-Day movement has raised more than $100 million and educated millions about the issue of violence against women and the efforts to end it locally, nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDoing \u2018The Vagina Monologues\u2019 in 2010, for me, was one of the most memorable experiences at APSU,\u201d said Chelsea Coles, an APSU graduate and instructor with the University\u2019s ESL Institute. \u201cAt that time, I don&#8217;t think that I fully comprehended the power behind a group of woman speaking out about violence, sexual identity, abuse and rape on a stage. For all of us the experience was transformative and freed us from the silence that society demands from us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>APSU will host a second V-Day event, \u201cOne Billion Speaking,\u201d at 7:00pm on March 2nd in the Morgan University Center\u2019s Einstein\u2019s coffee shop. That event will feature readings from Ensler\u2019s \u201cA Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer.\u201d With new monologues from both men\u2019s and women\u2019s perspectives, that performance will ask for donations to contribute to APSU\u2019s V-Day fundraising for local agencies that assist and support women and girls who are survivors of interpersonal violence.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, APSU joined more than 5,800 V-Day benefits around the world raising funds and awareness toward ending violence against women. These highly successfulevents raised more than $5 million through performances of \u201cThe Vagina Monologues,\u201d readings from \u201cAny One Of Us: Words From Prison\u201d and screenings of V-Day\u2019s documentary \u201cUntil The Violence Stops\u201d and the PBS documentary \u201cWhat I Want My Words To Do To You.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year marks APSU\u2019s 15th production as part of the global V-Day Campaign.
