The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. Now that the leaves are off the trees, they are much easier to see.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required By:<\/strong> 4:30pm, January 13th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist<\/p>\n<h3>Saturday, January 16th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Man&#8217;s Use of Dunbar Cave<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 4:00pm \u2013 5:00pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 10 \u2013 adult<\/p>\n<p>Learn about how Dunbar Cave and the surrounding area was used through years past in this indoor presentation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required By:<\/strong> 4:30pm, January 14th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Tuesday, January 19th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Nature Hike at Port Royal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 9:30am \u2013 10:30am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> All Ages<\/p>\n<p>Walk through the winter woods on this \u00bd mile hike. Meet at River Bottom Trail parking lot. Meet at River Bottom Trail parking lot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required By:<\/strong> 4:30pm, January 18th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Thursday, January 21st<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Night Hike<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 5:00pm \u2013 6:00pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> All ages<\/p>\n<p>This is a great time of year to walk in the woods at night \u2013 no heat, no humidity, no bugs. Dress warmly and we will walk the Short Loop Trail as the sun sets and darkness rises\u2013 we might hear owls and other creatures as we go.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required By:<\/strong> 4:30pm, January 19th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information<\/h3>\n<p>Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed.
