Her show, \u201cFreedom to Explore\u201d, represents her diversity acquired from years of study as an art educator in Tennessee and Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>Her works include creations in acrylics, watercolors, pen and ink, charcoal and oil. Janet\u2019s style is realistic and her favorite subject matter revolves around trees and nature. She works in her studio and also outdoors in plein air.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Clarksvilles-Downtown-Artist-Co-op-Gallery-to-feature-Janet-Felts-in-January.jpg\"  rel=\"attachment wp-att-332009\" class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-332009\" title=\"Clarksville artist Janet Jones Felts to exhibit at Downtown Artist Co-op Gallery throughout the month of January.\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Clarksvilles-Downtown-Artist-Co-op-Gallery-to-feature-Janet-Felts-in-January-480x300.jpg\" alt=\"Clarksville artist Janet Jones Felts to exhibit at Downtown Artist Co-op Gallery throughout the month of January.\" width=\"480\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><!--more-->\u201cFreedom to Explore\u201d sums up the many media and skills she\u2019s taught as a high school art teacher. Janet\u2019s training started at APSU with an Associate in Advertising Art and a BFA in Art Education. Gwinnett County School System, where she taught in Georgia, provided workshops on art techniques, media and teaching during the summer.<\/p>\n<p>Now that Ms. Felts is retired she says, \u201cI\u2019m like a kid just out of art school, it\u2019s time I find myself.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFreedom to Explore\u201d is about her journey since retirement in creating her own art. Settling on just one medium to work in for Janet is problematic, she loves them all.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone is welcome to attend the \u201cOpening Reception\u201d, Thursday, January 7th from 5:00-8:00 pm at the DAC (Downtown Artist Co-op) on 96 Franklin, Street in Clarksville. The exhibit will be on display January 7th \u2013 29th. DAC hours are: Wednesday-Friday, 12:00am-4:00am Saturday, 10:00am-6:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. Felts joined the DAC last February. \u201cFreedom to Explore\u201d will be her first solo exhibit at the DAC. This is not her first solo exhibit in Clarksville. She had a solo exhibit at the Custom House Museum\u2019s Peg Harvill Gallery in 2014. Since her retirement from teaching art in Georgia in 2010, she has returned to her beloved Tennessee and settled in Erin where she has her studio on East Main Street.
