The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. Children under age 5 are free. You can pay in advance by credit card (call the Dunbar Cave office at 931.648.5526 Monday through Friday between 8:00am and 4:15pm), or pay cash only at the gate. Credit cards can NOT be used the nights of the event.<\/p>\n<p>First tour leaves at 5:00pm. Tours leave every 20 minutes. Last tour leaves at 8:00pm.<\/p>\n<p>Reservations are recommended to secure a tour time. Advance Registration deadline is 4:30pm November 12th.<\/p>\n<p>A limited number of same day tickets may be available at the gate (cash only) but you might have to wait 1-3 hours for an opening.<\/p>\n<p>Tours leave out from the River Bottom Trail Head.<\/p>\n<h3>Saturday, November 14th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Port Royal by Lantern<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 5:00pm &#8211; 8:00pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> All ages<\/p>\n<p>See information for Friday, November 13th for details on this event.<\/p>\n<h3>Wednesday, November 18th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Port Royal Birding<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 9:30am &#8211; 10:30am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 12 &#8211; adult<\/p>\n<p>Bring your binoculars and learn the birds of Port Royal. Meet at the Visitor Center parking lot at Port Royal Historic Area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required by:<\/strong> 4:30pm, November 16th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Amy Wallace, Interpretive Specialist<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Night Hike<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 4:30pm \u2013 6:00pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> All ages<\/p>\n<p>We will walk the Short Loop Trail as darkness rises\u2013 we might hear owls, frogs and other creatures as we go.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required by:<\/strong> 4:30pm, November 16th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information<\/h3>\n<p>Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed.
