Her opera credits include Miss Pinkerton in \u201cThe Old Maid and the Thief,\u201d Mabel in \u201cPirates of Penzance,\u201d Lucy in \u201cThe Telephone,\u201d Sally in \u201cBen and the Virtues,\u201d and Gretel in \u201cH\u00e4nsel und Gretel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She has recently performed with the Jackson Symphony and given recitals in Tennessee, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina. This coming spring, Rawls will be singing with the Rapides Symphony Orchestra in a semi-staged production of Mozart\u2019s \u201cMagic Flute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to her performing career, Rawls is an assistant professor of music at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana, where she teaches applied voice, vocal pedagogy, diction and vocal literature. Dr. Rawls earned a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from APSU, followed by a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance from the University of South Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>Mei-En Chou, who will play two solo piano works as part of the program, will accompany Rawls. Chou is currently the artist in residence and assistant professor at Louisiana College, and serves on the board of the Louisiana International Piano Competition as director of junior competition.<\/p>\n<p>She has appeared with the Dallas American Asian Youth Orchestra (\u201cCarnival of Animals\u201d), Red River Wind Symphony (\u201cRhapsody in Blue\u201d), Sun Philharmonic Orchestra (\u201cMozart Two-Piano Concerto,\u201d \u201cK.365\u201d) and North Texas Wind Symphony (\u201cHusa Concertino\u201d). GIA Publications released the CD, \u201cDomains\u201d with NTWS in December 2008. Her upcoming annual recital tours will collaborate with Pianist Chiao-Ju Hung as \u201cMusiC2,\u201d and with Harpist Linda-Rose Hembreiker as \u201cDuo Myst\u00e8re.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The concert is free to the public.
