The cave and its surrounding 110 acres have considerable scenic, natural and historical significance. The entrance offered shelter to prehistoric Native Americans as far back as 10,000 years.<\/p>\n<p>Dunbar Cave State Natural Area will present many nature programs during the year. Meet at the River Bottom Trail parking lot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required By:<\/strong> 4:30pm, September 1st.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Park Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Friday, September 4th<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Port Royal History Hike<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 6:00pm &#8211; 7:00pm<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 5 &#8211; adult<\/p>\n<p>Learn about the past inhabitants of the town of Port Royal. Hike will begin at the parking lot next to the Visitor Center.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required By:<\/strong> 4:30pm, September 2nd.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Saturday, September 5th<\/h3>\n<p>[320right]<strong>Volunteer Opportunity<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 8:00am &#8211; 9:00am<br \/>\n<strong>Ages:<\/strong> 10 &#8211; Adult<\/p>\n<p>If you enjoy our butterfly garden, please come out and help us look after it by weeding. Bring work gloves and water. In the process you\u2019ll learn about our native plants and our garden. You don\u2019t have to stay the full hour, even 10 minutes will help.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required By:<\/strong> 4:30pm, September 3rd.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Kala Downey, Seasonal Interpretive Ranger<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Port Royal Creek Exploration<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time:<\/strong> 9:30am &#8211; 10:30am<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ages:<\/strong> 5 &#8211; Adult<\/p>\n<p>See some of our creek creatures as we break out the nets and scoop up some of our aquatic fauna. Wear clothes you\u2019re willing to get wet and shoes that can stay on your feet. Hike will begin at the River Bottom Trail parking lot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reservations Required By:<\/strong> 4:30pm, September 4th.<br \/>\n<strong>Program Leader:<\/strong> Adam Neblett, Ranger<\/p>\n<h3>Dunbar Cave State Park Programs Information<\/h3>\n<p>Programs are free unless noted otherwise. All programs require reservations by the Deadline Listed.
