These are the reasons for any success I have ever had. I am very blessed to be in the position I am in. I have never seen it as job really. I just get to come in and watch young people do things to make their dreams come true. I find it hard to believe any one has it better than I do. \u201c<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an exceptional honor for Mike, Montgomery Central, and this community to have him recognized in such a prestigious manner.\u201d said Clarksville-Montgomery County Director of Schools B.J. Worthington<\/p>\n<p>Brown\u2019s principal Christy Houston said, &#8220;It is a privilege to work alongside a teacher who is able to challenge students at their appropriate level consistently showing growth with all students. He is passionate about his content, but even more about meeting students where they are, and regardless of their individual circumstances, ensuring success for all.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The PAEMST program, administered by the National Science Foundation (NSF) on behalf of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy recognizes outstanding teachers for their contributions to the teaching and learning of mathematics and science.<\/p>\n<p>Each awardee will receive a citation signed by President Obama and a $10,000 award from NSF. Awardees also will travel to Washington, DC, for an awards ceremony at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>Tennessee\u2019s Department of Education submitted Brown as the state\u2019s nominee for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching in October 2013. He is the only math teacher from Tennessee selected. Memphis teacher Pierre Jackson received the science teaching award.<\/p>\n<p>The awardee\u2019s selection was announced via a White House press release.
