\"FirstClarksville, TN<\/strong> – Produced by The Downtown Clarksville Association, First Thursday Art Walk is a free, self-guided tour spanning a 5-block radius that combines visual art, live music, engaging events and more in the heart of Downtown Clarksville.<\/p>\n

With 10+ venues, bars and businesses participating each month, the First Thursday Art Walk in Clarksville is the ultimate opportunity to savor and support local creative talent.<\/p>\n

First Thursday Art Walk in downtown Clarksville scheduled for July 3rd.<\/p><\/div>\n

The May Art Walk will be held June 4th, 2015 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the shops and galleries on Public Square, Franklin Street, and Strawberry Alley.<\/p>\n

The participating businesses are listed below as well as a description of the work they will be exhibiting and services they will be offering during the event.<\/p>\n

The Downtown Artists Co-op (96 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

The DAC is an association of talented local artists and interested patrons dedicated to promoting the visual arts in the Clarksville\/Montgomery County area.<\/p>\n

Our objectives are to sponsor art exhibitions of work by Co-op members and regional artists, to provide continuing support for the Co-op and its membership through the sale of art work, to encourage arts education with outreach programs and scholarship fundraisers, and to develop membership services which directly support the arts community.<\/p>\n

Artist Information<\/strong><\/p>\n

Downtown Artists Co-op (DAC) is proud to announce an exhibit of fine art photography by Shane Moore. The opening reception for this exhibit will be on June 4th from 5:00pm till 8:00ppm.<\/p>\n

Shane Moore was born and raised in Clarksville. He attended Austin Peay State University, earning a Bachelors degree in 2003 with a minor in Photography. He was a founding member of the DAC in 2002 and continues today as a leader and artist member. His work has been shown throughput the region and has won numerous awards.<\/p>\n

Of the title of the exhibit Moore says, \u201cOne night in May, I was in the darkroom printing. The song Silver Springs (a great old song) was playing and I had an \u201cexhibit title epiphany.\u201d He goes on to say of the lyrics that inspired the title, \u201cSilver represents by darkroom work. The \u201cSprings\u201d represents many things to me: new beginnings and rebirth, something pure and precious that brings life and hope.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBlue green colors flashing\u201d and \u201cShining Autumn\u201d represents colors in my work. \u201cI would be your only dream\u201d, well, that is for my wife Jaime\u2026 she is my love, my friend, my inspiration and my only dream.\u201d Also featured in Silver Springs is the art of Jane Moore, the newest DAC Member and Shane\u2019s wife.<\/p>\n

The DAC will be serving up appetizers, punch and wine for the opening, always a central part of Clarksville\u2019s \u201cFirst Thursday Art Walk\u201d, a wonderful evening of art, music and more in beautiful Historic Downtown Clarksville. First Thursday Art Walk occurs regularly on the first Thursday of each month.<\/p>\n

The Roxy Regional Theatre<\/h3>\n

Peg Harvill Gallery (100 Franklin Street)<\/strong><\/p>\n

For those who enjoy the visual arts, the Peg Harvill Gallery, located just beyond the lobby, hosts twelve shows annually featuring locally and nationally known artisans. Shows generally open the first Thursday of each month for our First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

Artist Information<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Roxy Regional Theatre\u2019s Peg Harvill Gallery is proud to host local artist, Richard Hogan during the June First Thursday Art Walk.<\/p>\n

Richard Hogan began painting in earnest shortly after he retired in 2001. He has a doctorate in Physiology and Biophysics, and his professional life was in the scientific area, through research, teaching, and administration. His early paintings were traditional and very linear in approach.<\/p>\n

[320left]Due to a fortunate mistake a unique technique was developed using airbrush and spray and a series of acrylic glazes on natural templates such as leaves, branches, weeds, and stems. Landscapes are the primary focus of his paintings reflective of boyhood memories in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas. Jurors have described his works as ethereal, mystical, muted, and \u201cfoggy.\u201d<\/p>\n

His experiences since retirement have been quite different from his scientific background; however, he feels there are no marked differences in the philosophy and approach of art and science. At 73 years of age, he is developing yet another technique using multiple layers of glazing coupled with heavily textured canvas, the results of which are very colorful and clearly abstract. www.richardhogan.org<\/a><\/p>\n

Gallery hours during Art Walk will be 5:00pm \u2013 6:00pm due to a performance of “The Aristocats, Kids”. Additional gallery hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00am \u2013 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

Customs House Museum (200 South 2nd Street)<\/h3>\n

The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is Tennessee\u2019s second largest general interest museum. It features fine art, history, and children\u2019s exhibits.<\/p>\n

Join us for the First Thursday Art Walk on June 4th. The museum will be open with FREE admission from 5:00 \u2013 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

Author Shana Thornton will be signing copies of her new book Poke Sallet Queen and the Family Medicine Wheel. The book is available for purchase at Seasons: The Museum Store.<\/p>\n

    \nClarence Cameron White was an African-American music composer and violinist born in Clarksville, TN in 1880. This exhibit in our lobby features various artifacts from his life.<\/li>\n

    The Framemaker (705 North Second Street)<\/h3>\n

    Mixed Media Magic: New Work by Connie Livingston-Dunn<\/p>\n

    The Framemaker proudly presents work by artist Connie Livingston-Dunn as part of Clarksville\u2019s First Thursday ArtWalk on June 4th, 2015. An opening reception will be held from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. The exhibit, entitled \u201dMixed Media Magic,\u201d will remain on display at the Framemaker throughout the month of June during normal business hours (Monday through Friday 10:00am \u2013 5:00pm).<\/p>\n

    [320right]Connie Livingston-Dunn received a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from Northern Illinois University. She is a retired board-certified art therapist and is currently an adjunct professor at Austin Peay State University. She is also a founding member of the Downtown Artist\u2019s Cooperative.<\/p>\n

    Livingtston-Dunn\u2019s new work explores concealed symbolism through mixed media including painting, collage, digital and fractal art techniques.Her work is both in private collections as well as in the corporate collections of the Merseyside County Museum of Liverpool, England, Rape and Sexual Abuse Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and Trans Financial Bank of Tennessee in Memphis.<\/p>\n

    The Framemaker is located at the corner of North Second Street and Georgia Avenue, across from the Clarksville Academy.<\/p>\n

    Edward\u2019s Steakhouse (107 Franklin Street)<\/h3>\n

    Artist Information<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Edward\u2019s Steakhouse is proud to host local artist, David Smith during the June First Thursday Art Walk and will also feature Jackson Miller on the piano.<\/p>\n

    David Smith is a retired U.S. Army Still Photographer, who came to the Clarksville area in 1976 as a member of the 101st Airborne Division. He returned to Clarksville with his family after his retirement from the military. Most of the photographs are of Landscapes and scenery but he also tries to photography the City of Clarksville. \u201dI feel that it\u2019s important for a photographer to help preserve the history through photographs.\u201d<\/p>\n

    He is a member of The Friends of Photography here in Clarksville. His photographs have been displayed in Edward\u2019s Steakhouse, Tennessee State Museum, Customs House Museum and F&M Bank in Clarksville and Springfield and has been featured on local program, Tennessee Crossroads.<\/p>\n
