\"ClarksvilleClarksville, TN<\/strong> \u2013 The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.<\/p>\n

This weeks highlights include: 50K Tree Day, Homeschool Swim Day, Book Signing, Wettest Egg Hunt, and Spring Eggstravaganza.<\/p>\n

\"2015<\/a><\/p>\n

50K Tree Day<\/h3>\n

The City of Clarksville and Montgomery County are partnering with the Tennessee Environmental Council, Tennessee Department of Agriculture-Division of Forestry, Tennessee Stormwater Association, Cumberland River Compact to take part in the 50K Tree Day event on Saturday, March 14th from 10:00am to 11:00am.<\/p>\n

Join hundreds of volunteers across Tennessee as well as statewide groups including Tennessee Stormwater Association and the Tennessee Environmental Council, to plant 50,000 native bare-root seedlings in one hour!<\/p>\n

Volunteers have the choice of four different locations throughout Clarksville to plant trees during the event. Trees will be available to plant at Valleybrook Park, Billy Dunlop Park, Rotary Park, and Civitan Park. No prior tree-planting experience is necessary!<\/p>\n

Homeschool Swim Day<\/h3>\n

The March edition of Homeschool Swim Day at the Indoor Aquatic Center will be held from 10:00am until noon on Wednesday, March 18th due to CMCSS Spring Break.<\/p>\n

Homeschool Swim Day offers swimming, refreshments, and access to the Wibit inflatables. Cost to attend is $3.00 per person, including adults.<\/p>\n

Book Signing<\/h3>\n

Local authors Minoa D. Uffelman, Ellen Kanervo, Eleanor Williams and Phyllis Smith will be signing copies of their book, \u201cThe Diary of Nannie Haskins\u201d at the Fort Defiance Interpretive Center; along with Carolyn Ferrell, author of \u201cFranklin House.\u201d These books showcase unique views into Clarksville\u2019s history!<\/p>\n

The book signing will take place on March 28th from 1:00pm-3:00pm.<\/p>\n

Wettest Egg Hunt<\/h3>\n

Saturday, March 28th, thousands of colored eggs will be floating or sunk in the Indoor Aquatic Center\u2019s pools, each redeemable for candy and prizes at the 4th annual Wettest Egg Hunt! An adaptive egg hunt will be offered for children and adults with special needs at 11:00am with the remaining hunts for children ages 1 to 11 following from 1:00pm to 7:00pm. An exciting variety of prizes will be up for grabs at this year\u2019s Wettest Egg Hunt, including Easter baskets, a hockey puck signed by the Nashville Predators\u2019 Mike Fisher, and even a bike!<\/p>\n

Pre-registration is required and available online. Cost to participate is $3.00 per participant.<\/p>\n

Spring Eggstravaganza<\/h3>\n

The annual Spring Eggstravanganza has been scheduled for April 4th at Heritage Park Sports Complex. The fun kicks off at 1:00pm with free activities for children followed by the hunting of over 20,000 candy and prize-filled eggs.<\/p>\n

Kids can enjoy inflatables, face painting, games & fun activities, and visit with the Easter Bunny! Parents don\u2019t forget your cameras!<\/p>\n

Egg hunts will be open to children ages 3 to 10 and will take place beginning at 1:15pm. Each child will receive an age appropriate arm band as they enter the complex that will correspond with the field they will go to for the hunt.<\/p>\n
