David Sedaris’ “The Santaland Diaries” Offers Cynical Look at Holidays<\/h2>\n

\"Roxy<\/a><\/strong>Clarksville, TN<\/strong> – Have yourself a cynical little Christmas … David Sedaris’ hilarious one-man show “The Santaland Diaries” plays the Roxy Regional Theatre’s theotherspace for four nights only, December 8th – December 16th.<\/p>\n

In Joe Mantello’s adaptation of Sedaris’ acclaimed satirical essay, Ryan Bowie stars as an out-of-work actor who decides to become a Macy’s elf during the holiday crunch. At first the job is simply humiliating, but once the thousands of visitors start pouring through Santa’s workshop, he becomes battle weary and cynical, occasionally taking out his frustrations on the children and parents alike.<\/p>\n

In time, however, his bitterness turns to bliss as he experiences the miracle called Christmas.<\/p>\n

“The Santaland Diaries” is presented in theotherspace, the 50-seat black-box theatre located upstairs at the Roxy, and plays at 7:00pm on December 8th, 9th, 15th and 16th.
