\"Clarksville's<\/a>Clarksville, TN<\/strong> \u2013 Paintings by Internationally known artist Margaret Evangeline are on view in the Customs House Museum\u2019s Kimbrough Gallery through October.<\/p>\n

Evangeline\u2019s work has been featured in Art in America, The New York Times, ArtNews, The New Yorker and many other publications. She has exhibited nationally and internationally in venues such as The Drawing Center, Art in General, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Palm Beach ICA, the Hafnarborg, Reykjavik and the Taipei Museum in Taiwan among others.<\/p>\n

Margaret\u2019s major public installations include \u201cSaved from the Water\u201d in London, UK. She has recently completed a large-scale public sculpture commission at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan. Margaret Evangeline\u2019s paintings are in numerous museum collections, including New Orleans Museum of Art, Knoxville Art Museum, Rose Art Museum, CU Boulder Art Museum, Ogden Museum of Southern Art, Tucson Museum of Art, Hilliard Museum, Tennessee State Museum, Alexandria Museum, and the Customs House Museum.<\/p>\n

The large scale works are part of the museum\u2019s permanent collection. Margaret Evangeline is a New York-based, Louisiana-born painter and multi media artist. She received her M.F.A. and B.A. from the University of New Orleans and is the recipient of numerous awards, including a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, 2001, and a New York Foundation for the Arts Grant, 1996.<\/p>\n

[320left]Also on view through October are the annual Women Painting Women invitational show, Leslie Shiels\u2019 Dizygotic, and Aletha Carr: New Connections. Located at the corner of Second and Commerce Streets, the Customs House Museum is the second largest general museum in Tennessee.<\/p>\n

Located in the heart of historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee, the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is the State\u2019s second largest general museum. Regular museum hours are 10:00am to 5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sundays. Adult admission is $7.00, Sr. Citizens and College ID $5.00, Ages 6 to 18 $3.00, and under six years and Museum members are free.<\/p>\n
