Two zodiacs\u2014black inflatable military boats\u2014were crossing the river filled with Austin Peay State University Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) cadets. The cadets were rowing fervently to get to the other side of the river, retrieve two mock casualties and transport them back to the APSU campus.<\/p>\n<p>The mission was part of the ROTC program\u2019s weekly Tuesday morning BLITZ. One cadet is chosen each week to lead the squad in a predetermined mission that creates an environment of adversity, both physically and mentally.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_279255\" style=\"width: 490px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/APSU_ROTC_Blitz.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-279255\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-279255\" title=\"APSU ROTC Students undertaking a BLITZ training mission on the Cumberland River\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/APSU_ROTC_Blitz-480x360.jpg\" alt=\"APSU ROTC Students undertaking a BLITZ training mission on the Cumberland River\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-279255\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">APSU ROTC Students undertaking a BLITZ training mission on the Cumberland River<\/p><\/div>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The missions, meant to represent real-world scenarios that a leader in the U.S. Army could face, test the cadets\u2019 reactions and decision making abilities.
