{"id":18790,"date":"2014-09-11T12:00:44","date_gmt":"2014-09-11T17:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=18790"},"modified":"2014-09-10T23:59:20","modified_gmt":"2014-09-11T04:59:20","slug":"austin-peay-state-university-continues-to-climb-u-s-news-and-world-reports-best-colleges-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2014\/09\/11\/austin-peay-state-university-continues-to-climb-u-s-news-and-world-reports-best-colleges-list\/","title":{"rendered":"Austin Peay State University continues to climb U.S. News and World Report&#8217;s Best Colleges list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-47306\" title=\"Austin Peay State University - APSU\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/apsu-logo-200x123.jpg\" alt=\"Austin Peay State University - APSU\" width=\"200\" height=\"123\" \/><strong>Clarksville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; The U.S. News &amp; World Report Best Colleges 2015 rankings were released Tuesday, September 9th, and Austin Peay State University ranked 27th in the Top Public Schools, Regional Universities (South) category.<\/p>\n<p>APSU placed 62nd overall in the Regional Universities (South) category, up seven spots from last year.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/2015-U.S.-News-and-World-Reports-Best-Colleges-list.jpg\"  class=\"thickbox no_icon\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-275198\" title=\"U.S. News &amp; World Report Best Colleges 2015\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/2015-U.S.-News-and-World-Reports-Best-Colleges-list-480x252.jpg\" alt=\"U.S. News &amp; World Report Best Colleges 2015\" width=\"480\" height=\"252\" \/><\/a><!--more-->In 2012, the University was ranked 87th among both public and private schools in the southeast.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. News &amp; World Report, which surveyed nearly 1,800 schools nationwide, has released its Best Colleges rankings since 1983, and the list is often used by prospective students when determining where to attend.<\/p>\n<p>APSU\u2019s 2015 Best Colleges ranking is simply the most recent in a list of accolades the University has received this summer. In late August, the national television program the PBS NewsHour profiled APSU\u2019s use of innovation to boost graduation rates.<\/p>\n<p>Early that month, the federal government applauded APSU\u2019s efforts in supporting veterans and military personnel by singling out the University as the only school in Tennessee to commit to the new \u201c8 Keys to Veterans Success\u201d federal initiative.<\/p>\n<p>In July, the Chronicle of Higher Education named APSU as one of the best colleges in the nation to work for. APSU was the only public university in Tennessee to make the Chronicle\u2019s annual \u201cGreat Colleges to Work For\u201d list.
