{"id":18766,"date":"2014-09-08T08:00:08","date_gmt":"2014-09-08T13:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/?p=18766"},"modified":"2014-09-08T03:15:42","modified_gmt":"2014-09-08T08:15:42","slug":"tennessee-governors-books-from-birth-bus-tour-stops-at-governors-square-mall-on-september-11th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.discoverclarksville.com\/articles\/2014\/09\/08\/tennessee-governors-books-from-birth-bus-tour-stops-at-governors-square-mall-on-september-11th\/","title":{"rendered":"Tennessee Governor&#8217;s Books from Birth Bus Tour stops at Governor&#8217;s Square Mall on September 11th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-128193\" title=\"Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library\" src=\"http:\/\/www.clarksvilleonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Clarksville-Montgomery-County-Public-Library.gif\" alt=\"Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library\" width=\"225\" height=\"123\" \/><strong>Clarksville, TN<\/strong> &#8211; The Governor\u2019s Books from Birth Foundation (GBBF) launched its \u201cBooks from Birth 10th Anniversary Tour\u201d on August 26th in Johnson County and it will conclude at the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville on September 30th, visiting some 50 counties across the state in a forty-five foot decorated touring coach.<\/p>\n<p>The tour bus will visit Clarksville at the Food Court entrance to Governor\u2019s Square Mall on Thursday, September 11th from 12:30pm to 2:00pm.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"10 Years and 20 million Books!\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BjCLmKoj51M?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p><!--more-->A story time for children and face painting will be provided along with giveaways and other activities at the stop.<\/p>\n<p>Remarks will be given by Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cBooks from Birth 10th Anniversary Tour\u201d is being made possible in part through the generous support of the program\u2019s bus tour partner, Delta Dental of Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the \u201cBooks from Birth 10th Anniversary Tour\u201d is to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library in Tennessee and the more than 20 million books mailed to children since the program began. The GBBF will provide reading-themed giveaways for children at each stop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is truly an amazing state-wide outreach effort that will celebrate and build awareness for Books from Birth,\u201d said First Lady Crissy Haslam. \u201cIt is critical that our children are exposed to books and reading at the earliest possible age. Tennessee\u2019s Imagination Library program, supported by the Governor\u2019s Books from Birth Foundation, is a proven and essential component of our state\u2019s early childhood development initiatives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis program has made a significant impact in Tennessee over the past decade, especially due to the loyal support of hundreds of dedicated volunteers in each county,\u201d Governor Bill Haslam said. \u201cThe First Lady and I encourage communities across the state to celebrate their hard work, which has made the program\u2019s 10th anniversary possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Governor\u2019s Books from Birth Foundation (GBBF) was created in 2004 to give every child in Tennessee from birth to age five access to receiving Imagination Library books at no cost to families, regardless of income.<\/p>\n<p>With funding support from the Tennessee General Assembly, foundations, individual donors and corporations, the GBBF matches all funds raised by each county\u2019s Imagination Library affiliate &#8211; a public-private partnership unique to Tennessee.<\/p>\n<p>[320left]\u201cWe are thrilled to visit over 50 counties in late August and September to thank everyone who has contributed to this program\u2019s success,\u201d said Theresa Carl, president, GBBF.
